I've got a chance of picking up a Nolan N103 and the associated wireless
kit for about €300 (I think the lid is about €270 and the wireless kit about
    €200, so a saving of around €170).

I've got a Shoei Multitec atm and I'm happy with it. In my experience, flip top
lids are noisy and I reckon the Nolan would be noisier than the Shoei.

Apart from the financial side of things, is it worth it?

I'm not convinced that it is *possible* to make a noisier lid than a
    Multitec.

    Salad Dodger wibbled forthrightly:
You reckon? I had a Nolan flip top before (not sure if it was the N103)
and I reckon the Multitec was much better.

You've not tried the Nolan then. Used to have a N101 and had to replace
it because I had temporary ear loss after a 20 minutes commute. Maybe
    the 103 is better... maybe.

Ca&b, I still have the 101 somewhere (size 58) if you want to try by
    yourself...

The N103 is fucking noisy. to the extent that, even with the accessory
ear pads fitted, ear plugs are still required.
