Sort of. I got several girls. About 50/50 pro/anti-bike. Current
and soon to be permanent one doesn't like bikes.

Does "at the moment" cover the last ten years?

True. Rohypnol is somewhere in between.

It's always worked. Very few women will deny that bikes are sexy.

I think "belonging", in the psychological sense, is a 'normal' feature
of human beings, and very very few people don't need any sort of
acceptance or vailidation from some group. You may have a low need
for it, and you obviously don't get it from other bikers, but I'd be
surprised if there's nothing there at all.

I'd agree with that. So me getting my licence in 96 pre-empted it.

In all seriousness, I actually got into motorbikes off the back of
cycling a lot. It just seemed like a natural progression.

yeah, I know - but bikes in R'n'B videos/crap like Biker Boyz etc
shows that they have become "sexy" from a marketing point of view as
    well.

It's not the bike, it's the clothes.

Not really. Most people are wankers in RL but it doesn't stop me going to
pubs with the few I like. And this ng has pretty much **** all to do with
bikes anyway. It's more IT/sex change related.

well, of course - if you truly felt alienated from the rest of
humanity but were accepting of that fact, then almost by definition
    you'd be sociopathic.
I'm much happier with being "just some guy" and be liked for my
personality[0] rather than having my life defined as being a "biker".

I was wondering if you'd pitch up, BTW during a "biker" style
    debate[1].

[0] come on, do your worst.

Ben bored us all completely to death with wittery prose along the lines
    of:
SWMBO's anti-bike, although she doesn't mind being a passenger, whilst
running around town. So much so, that I could have whatever I wanted
(almost), if I got rid of the bike.

    Main Entry: sub·cul·ture
    Pronunciation: 's&b-"k&l-ch&r
    Function: noun
1 a : a culture (as of bacteria) derived from another culture b : an
act or instance of producing a subculture
2 : an ethnic, regional, economic, or social group exhibiting
characteristic patterns of behavior sufficient to distinguish it from
others within an embracing culture or society <a criminal subculture>

If I could be arsed, I might try and argue that the group "people who
ride motorcycles" exhibit "characteristic patterns of behavior
sufficient to distinguish it from others within an embracing culture
    or society".

Or I could just go for the cheap gag and note that definition 1 fits
    ukrm.

I've never had that impression, wherever I've been. Even when I go to
customers and see the staff kissing/shaking hands there, it has never

Good way to start the day, IMO. As you said, it breaks down barriers.
Depends who you're kissing or touching ;-)
