  4. Cool. I remember fighting to get some of them and then being very
very very annoyed when they arrived and I wasn't given one..
That *might* not be the responsibility of the PC..

I'll add an AOL to that - I remember playing all of them apart from
    those boring Tasword games.

I had an Oric, upgraded to an Atmos, then to an Amstrad PCW before
finally getting a Viglen 286. At last, a real PC. Then the usual
passage of no-name 386, 486, Pentium, Pentium II, now a bitsa which
    works fine, thanks.

I liked that and Repton, but that was on the BBC.

I'm deeply ashamed to admit I had an Oric. Swapped it for a stereo
    system after a month.

All of those games were fine but surely computer games started to
really come into their own when the vector graphics games like Elite,
Aviator and Revs came to the BBC B?

I had Revs for a month before I could make it move. Eventually, I hit
upon my now oft-used technique of pressing all the buttons ramdomly
[0] and found which one put the car into gear.

[0] Particularly effective with errant photocopiers, I find.

Loved Elite. Although I had similar problems as BB with Revs and Aviator
(that was the hyper realistic Spitfire sim? You know, the one with
    attacking alien space craft.)

It sure was. God but that did for my school holidays for a few years
on the trot. Bonus points for flying through the streets of the city,
flying under the suspension bridge and shooting aliens either in the
air or (harder still), while they were growing in the fields. Classic.
