So that leaves Yamaha as the only factory team in US
roadracing. Guess Roger is getting the series of private
teams he wanted in spite of any steps (mis-steps) he
    took.

Will anybody homologate anything so that the private
teams can run anything??? Kawasaki has contingency
posted already, implying that they will homologate
something. I haven't seen anything from Honda or
    Suzuki.

I thought maybe it was just ASB, but it seems "withdraw Team Honda from
participation in the 2009 AMA Roadracing Series" which implies no Team
    Honda DSB either.

So I guess Hodgson is out of a job.

So what were Hodgson and Duhamel on in the Daytona 200 last year?
Although they didn't do the whole FX series.

At the recent tyre test, did Team Honda have a 600 out there?

Big Red's departure is sad, but them not racing as an OEM isn't that
big a deal, after all, they only have one rider. (and a Limey at
that;-) The big deal will be if they and others drop their sponsorships
in Road Racing after their current agreements expire. Without
sponsorship tracks will have to rely almost solely on attendance and
given the demographics of the majority of RR spectators, that is, they
earn under $50k a year and are the first to suffer in a recession, it's
doubtful that's going to be commercially viable for very long, if at
all. The next shoe to drop might well be the venues, as many are
precarious in good times, much less the abyss we face today.
Personally, I won't be surprised to see a couple go belly-up, or at the
very least wiggle out of money losing commitments. Suffice to say,
Proracing desperately needs a decent TV deal, as it may be the only
thing left that can tide RR over till the page is turned on the "Bush
    legacy.."

On a similar note, Honda stays in MX,(different demo'$) though with our
current downward $piral I question their longevity after the Red Bull
    deal expires...

operate under the worst-case-scenario assumption,Ó says Michael E.

sponsorsÕ contracts that are up for renewal this year or next probably
wonÕt be renewed. For the long-term contracts, I wonÕt be surprised if
they try to get out of them through bankruptcy or some other way.Ó

  6. It says it is allowing older bikes (as has previous years
and other series as well) but 2009 bikes can still be submitted
for homologation, so it isn't necessarily *only* old bikes

    Bruce Hartweg says:

Yeabut. Is Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki going to pay for
homologation in a series they aren't going to race in?

It's one thing not to run your own team, but not allowing the stuff you
wish to sell from even being seen in races is something else, doncha'
    think?

    T3 asks:
Certainly. But how much money is it to homologate and is it worth
it so some privateers can run? I haven't seen anything saying
they (honda/suzuki/kawasaki) are or aren't going to homologate
bikes. I'm questioning if they will though. More data would be
    good.

Kawasaki has announced contingency for the AMA Superbike
and AMA Supersport series in advertisements I've seen. In spite of
those exact names not existing, that implies they'll homologate.
I haven't seen anything implying anything from Honda or Suzuki.

I'd imagine outfits like Honda and Suzuki will homologate given that
it's relatively inexpensive.(for them) Btw, Erion and Corona are still
reportedly in, and Suz re-upped with Jordan then re-signed T. Hayden,
but that aside, homologation is probably a trivial expense to OEM's
(outfits like Hon, Kaw and Suz) when compared to the cost of a full on
race team. What remains to be seen is how strong the contingency's get,
    or don't...
