All, I used to read and post to ba.motorcycles through Cox services.
Just before I left san diego to ride up to stinson beach,
ba.motorcycles disappeared from the Cox list of newsgroups.

I know there is at least one rider from my area who posts to
    ba.motorcycles.
Anyone know about Cox dropping this ng?
Please email me if y'all know anything about it. I hate reading ng thru
    google!

    thanks,

Good to hear from you Barbz -- with all the mishaps down here, I was
afraid you'd dropped into a pothole.

I connect through Pacbell, but when I'm in Phoenix (as I was the week
before New Years), I get this NG through Cox' server there. I'd be
surprised if they had dropped it.

I'm in the Bay Area on Comcast (owned by the same group as Cox? I don't
know). Comcast recently quit offering usenet service completely, sending us
over to Giganews (yay! Now my usenet login doesn't work and neither Comcast
nor Giganews is responsible!). Maybe Cox did something similar, except
sending you to some newsfeed that doesn't offer ba.moto

Hey, don't that that shit from them. Get them on the phone and demand

  5. Huh? I'm on Comcast, and I'm still getting Usenet just fine, reading
this posting right now. They did change the name of the news server a
week or two ago, from netnews.comcast.net to newsgroups.comcast.net.
    Maybe that's your problem?

It may be that Comcast probably just hasn't gotten to you yet. The way they
explained it to me is that Comcast was ending the service and farming it out
to Giganews. My comcast.net stopped working about 1 week after they told me
to switch to giganews. So I switched, now my login doesn't work 95% of the
time and neither provider has a clue as to why, blaming each other. Per the
giganews offer the first 1GB of monthly download is free, then they'll
charge after that. If I can just stop looking at reeky, I should never see a
    charge... assuming I can login.

What specifically is wrong with Google's presentation?

  8. Too numerous to mention. You've never read Usenet with a real
    newsreader, have you?

I started out using Netscape Communicator for Usenet and had no
problems with it for years.. But it had to go by the wayside on this
Mac when I upped to OSX. I've been struggling ever since. Google is
    better than nothing.

I've been happy with Thoth on my OS X machine. But I understand
    they're not selling it anymore.

The problem wiith Google is that it doesn't keep track of and suppress
display of all the postings you have already read or marked as read.
It's just all the postings, all the time. At least that's how it was
last time I tried it. Has it changed?
