Just browsing eBay, found an ST2 on a 51 plate currently sat on £1k with
    24 hours to go.

    Anyone want a VFR?

I wouldn't buy an ST2, an ST4S like your old one is a goer, but not an
    aircooled 900cc one.

Mind you, it is replacing a VFR800i, so an MZ TS150 with flat tyres is
    a step up.

Thanks for that, Loz. For some reason I parsed Steve's original post
as SP-2 instead of ST2 which, aside from making it sound like he'd
found a real bargin, made Hog's post sound like a dig at Honda's v-
twin efforts, so it wasn't until you posted that I returned to the
    real world.

Anyway, while I'm here - you were just having a pop at the VFR _800_,
weren't you? Don't make me hurt you for insulting the new love of my
    life.

    No, no - if you're insulting the 800s that's fine. It's a classic 750
    that's stolen my heart.

The old twin sided swing-arm one from pre-1990? If you're looking for
one of those I have just the bike for you. You'll love it, I promise.

No, I've got a 1991 one, with the single-sided swinger.

You missed out, this one is lovely. I'm hoping to pick it up early next
month and take it to my new gaff, which has the mother and father of
all garages[1] for me to play in. Once there I'll give it a basic
service and possibly a fresh MOT before selling it on for the owner[2].

TBH I wasn't really planning to buy a new bike at all, but my tame
mechanic gave me the VFR as a freebie loan while I was trying to
decide what to do about the RSV, which is a nightmare to try to use as
    a day-to-day bike[1].

By the time I'd decided that the depreciation hit on the RSV was too
big to sell it before getting my money's worth it just seemed sensible
to go for the knock down price VFR - although I do need to sort out
why it's running rich and discover what's up with the fuel tap[2]

I do still need to win the lottery[3] and buy an RC30, though - mainly
to wind up everybody else on this group and put them in perpetual fear
of reading the group to find I've slung it under a scaffolding lorry.

[1] Although, obviously, I did use it (2 up) this weekend and for
commuting yesterday and today. In fact the VFR only got used for
popping to the shops on Sunday and even then only because it was easy
to throw my magnetic tank bag on.
[2] The first time I ran it in to reserve it switched to reserve
fine, but then when I switched back to the main tank it ran dry (in a
suprisingly small distance). I can't decide if it didn't switch back
from reserve to on properly or if it didn't switch from on to reserve
the second time. Fiddling with the tap it seems to be working OK.
    [3] Or become an EKS

I can't decide whether it was that that broke my irony meter, or the
follow-up post where AndrewR called Lozzo "scrawny".
    indeed.

You haven't seen me recently, have you? Although, TBF, I have been
calling Loz a scrawny twat, with a twist of irony, for quite some time.

About 3 months ago, at the Black Horse. Regardless of the fact that
you've put on weight, you still have a scrawny face.

Heh, I'd forgotten about that. I believe I may have been drinking,
although I also STR that I was mocked for not drinking in the early
    part of the evening.

    The ST2 isn't air-cooled.

The 'scrawny twat' is sitting here in 34" waist trousers today, because
all his other ones have become too tight.

You are indeed correct. I was sure they used a motor derived from the
    old aircooled SS motor.
