As I was advised, for 37 in a 30 in Leicester I've been offered a fixed
£60 and three points or a £60 half-day 'course'. Seems strange that
there seems to be a post-code lottery according to the responses I got
to my OP. Anyhow, I've decided to keep my licence clean.

  2. Same financial cost and no points? It's a no-brainer.

I wonder if you can 'fail' the course? I mean, if you attend, but tell
them: "**** it: it was a safe speed, and I'll be doing it again, only
faster, tomorrow", do they mark you as a hopeless case and give you the
    points anyway?

I mean, I'd be tempted to attend and rip the piss if I knew I'd still
    get away with nul points.

Prepare to be robbed for parking, it's in the centre of Leicester
(iirc) there is an NCP car park on top of the place (think it is
Imperial House) or The Shires shopping centre nearby.

Even the staff talk slowly to make sure that you are getting the fast
    is bad message.

  5. My thoughts too.

Do they understand the difference between inappropriate speed, speed
    limits and actual speed?

Do they understand how speeding statistics are gathered.

Do they understand the relationship between Gatsos and accidents caused
by them and the distance before the Gatso the sample is taken?

Or do you stay stum because they are all powerful little Hitlers with no
    idea.

  6. I remember your original posting on this and find it refreshing that
    your experience was positive.

Unfortunately my experiences in the past, with police, C&E and/or people
who hold authority over you, who do so without the necessary experience
and or intelligence, have not been so good. (I have always been an
    innocent party).

These experiences may not have mirrored the speeding scenario as I
gained mine from a more diverse origin.

But the 'staying stum' in those situations is the recommended way
forward without adding further problems, as suggested on this NG.

  7. Sounds OK. There was a good article in the Times recently - one of their
writers took the option of attending, and said that next time, given the
choice of points or the nannying twats he encountered, he'd have the
    points.

  9. You miss understand.

Never being caught and always the innocent party are two entirely
    different things.

There's a good bus service from my village and as I'm retired time is
not of the essence! Much cheaper than parking in the city centre!
