    Hey y'all,

Took the Spada for a ride up north Friday and rode back Sunday arvo..
(~1200km all up from Randwick to Nambucca Heads and around about a
    bit)
What do I have to say??
    \
What a cool little bike. I've sorted out the handling on it- was a bit
twitchy around town when i got it and I was struggling to turn in
nicely- had a look at the preload and it was set on the hardest of the
7 settings... I, being 75kg was struggling with that a tad. the 2nd
setting seems fine to me. Turns in well now. Had a ball opening it up
a bit on some nice open country roads off the highway.

One glitch- my muduard (or the metal bit that scrapes rocks off the
tyre) must have been rubbing on the tyre because the front was melted
really badly when I pulled into the Caltex. Some wally who's owned it
before me has fitted the wrong tyre (110/80). I molested the mudguard
scraper thing with a hammer just before I left but I must have made it
worse. Threw the mudguard in the backpack and kept riding..

Had to ride about 10km on a nasty dirt road to reach the folk's place-
a river flows over and down this road every time it rains and it's
never maintained so it was hella rocky and gravelly. that was
interesting but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Chain got all covered in dust though!

Fuel economy was great- around $4 per 100km. HEAPS better than I've
    been getting in town..

This might explain the reluctant turn-in?

I had a '93 ZZR600 which fell into corners on the OEM 60-section tyre.
Fitted a 70-section and it was much improved. Unfortunately, doing that
also reduced the clearance between front mudguard and tyre to a minimal
    amount.

That wasn't a problem until leaving a Red Back Tourers rally at Overland
Corner in SA, up a reasonably steep clay road from the river flats after
three days of rain. The tyre diameter grew with the layers of clay until
the front wheel wouldn't turn any more, at which time the back started to
move around to a startling extent. I was thoroughly hung-over, stoned,
drenched, exhausted, and terrified that I'd be flung into the mallee scrub
at any moment, but at the same time pretty cool about it all.

Shit that sounds like a nightmare. Wet, muddy, hungover, stoned while
riding?!?!So you've got the munchies too, and you're paranoid that the
trees are reaching out to pluck you off your bike...
Would have paid to see the look on your face when the back tyre
    started twitching.

  7. Keep meaning to tidy this page up, re-scan the images in properly and
crop them. Also do up the ride report properly. Anyhow, last June,
cruised down from Sydney via the backroads and did the counter
clockwise lap of Tasmania, all on my little 250 Spada.
