Nice little bimble.

Just got back from seeing in the new year in South Wales. The 10R performed
really well and is now run in. The highlight of the trip was crossing the
Severn Bridge in the very breezy conditions of new year's eve and skipping
    over two lanes sideways.

The 10R is as comfortable as my old gixxer, for me at least, and as each day
goes by the more I know I've made the right choice. I can also understand
why Champ said he feels he's going to get killed on it, the performance is
    brilliant.

The next job is to get the first service out of the way then fit Akrapovics
(or other loud pipes), K+N filter, remove the cat and fit a power commander.
I just love the intake noise, it sounds really purposeful and might even
sound better with a K+N? I just need a dry day now so I can get the tyres
    nicely scrubbed.

    ZX10R....sound choice.

Well next time you corss the bridge, come over the M48 and call in to
see me, I'm in Chepstow now, moved in with t'other half in December.

We've been out bimbling around the local roads quite a bit, even now as
the weather here is so mild (in comparison to Harrogate that is).

There's a decent bike mechanic not far from you in Rogiet - just fixed
certain electrical issues on the Black Pig for me.

That sounds like a major result, if I read it right.

Major fucking engineering works, actually. They hoicked the motor out, took
off the back cover and exclaimed at the state of the stator, fitted a new
stator, checked other things, put everything back together and into the
bike, praised the otherwise outstanding condition of the engine and charged
    me lots of money.

    Sorted.

Oh. Somehow, it sounded better than that. As an aside, my alt is now
making the fabled "warble" at 2-3k revs.

    I can either
a: source a front and rear bearing, and fit them to the existing rotor
    back plate, or
b: fit a whole new rotor plate assembly (which is how Honda sell them)
    for a mere £150.

    Tricky.
    'ray!

You're implying that you can get at your alternator without removing the
    engine?
    Good it is.

Oh, aye. Three bolts, and one multi-block connector.

Well, in the case of a BMW K series (which is also three bolts and some
electickery connectors) the cush drive can seem impossible to align and
the fucking alternator doesn't go back in easily at all. Especially if
you replace the rubber cush dampers.

LHS sidepanel, and the "carb" cover.

Which is no where near the carbs.

The alternator is just in front of my left shin, when sat normally.

Same place on the 12, apart from the rear engine cover issue. I may have to
grudgingly admit that the 15 may have some areas of improvement.
