May as well let you all know .. I dropped my bike today, I changed lanes
in the wet and managed to brake on a patch of leaves on the road whilst
    doing so.

I was actually getting out of a faster vehicle's way - lucky there was a
bus stop to end up in, rather than the road. Nobody stopped and I pushed
    the bike about 1km home.

Only damage : one brake lever and fractured the radial bit of my elbow
(the inner bone when you have your arm wrist-up, anyway).

Really inconvenient, far worse than doing my rotator cuff I am finding.
Painkillers are a small bonus but I'd rather not be hurt..

Not sure if anyone knows Port but it was on Oxley highway just after the
lake road roundabout, heading into town.

Bummer. Those breakable levers are a pain in the bum. And breakable elbows
are a pain in the, um, elbow. Hope you heal quickly. Gawd, it must be bloody
painful trying to push a bike when you have buggered your elbow!

    Be kind to yourself

Ouch. Hope it mends well, Yeebers.

Why were you braking? Inadquate pre-planning?

Anyway, it could have been much worse.

    Bugger!
I did my radial-head almost 20 years ago and it still clicks and cracks.

Sorry to hear about that. I'm amazed you managed to lift it and push
it for 1km, on your own, with only one fully-working arm! I hope that
    there's no nerve damage.

Often, pain takes a while before it becomes bad.

I once had a compound fracture of my tib and fib as a result of doing
    something silly whilst parachuting.

I was lying on the ground about fity yards from the drop zone safety
guy and I wasn't getting up, so I called out to him that I had broken
my leg. He told me to stop joking. I raised my left leg and he could
see the boot dangling off at 45 degrees to normal. I said "I'm not
joking." He went white. I felt no pain for at least another ten
    minutes.

Yes, the vehicle behind me was coming faster than I realised, and the
one in front in the left was just that bit slower, hence the ill fated
brake tap.. which should've been rear not front in hindsight.

Wincing most of the way with the occasional tennis style grunt :) Up the
driveway was the worst bit (30 deg uphill).. Honestly did not think I'd
hurt myself til an hour later (adrenalin or shock I guess)

Yep I'd agree with that. Pain took a while to register.

Considering it's almost 3x my weight (155 vs 58-60) I am amazed I get it
upright at all even uninjured :)

    any truth to the rumour
    that the Japanese
    use adrenalin
to power their satellite rocket launchers ?

Stopped at a roundabout years back in the wet on a Trumpy , car coming
round slid over me , backed off and drove away , I came tp got up and
rode to hospital as I knew the right arm was broken due the loud click
when being swung , no pain until at causality bout 20 minutes later

I assume you now have some sort of plaster ?
hope it heals quickly with minimal discomfort

  18. Sorry to hear that Yeebok, it would have been the aftershock.
Had the same thing a few weeks ago when I put mine down trying to miss an
oncoming car on a narrow twisty road and just touched the gravel, then
    pandemonium erupted.
Rode home despite other riders insisting I visit the local hospital.
Distance of 175 kilometres wasn't a problem and the shoulder wasn't either
till I took it to my local hospital and was told I had broken the collar
    bone.
The female doctor was not that apologetic when she said.
    :"Young bones....................( elongated pause )
    heal in about 8 weeks.
Yours might be ready in about 12 weeks or so."
    Cheeky little bitch
    don't think she liked bikes.
    NEY, hope you heal quickly

When i did my rotator cuff it didn't hurt for about 12 hours, no bruise
til 24 later. Fucking beauty of a bruise once it came up.b Knew I'd
done something then; my arm just hung there .. still managed to do a
    20km ride with my bro-in-law.

and if its moved I may get a screw put in for all I know or some plaster
and that's it.. ATM I am just in a sling and a tube pressure bandage.
