  1. I see your Bantam and raise you a C15...

I thought we had a formula for whether things were classic?

  5. I was trying to find that, as I suspected that The Sybian would qualify -
    mostly on grounds of age.

    Now that's definitely a classic.

Completely broke the mould and moved things on more than any other bike
    I can remember.

Suppose it depends on your age. For me, the real classics start with the
    GPZ900R.

What bikes do you ride Frinton Boy? I'll have to look out for you
because I live in Clacton. If you see a yellow Norton Rotary by the way,
    it's my dad. Or a Norton ES2. Or a Ducati 750GT (early 70s). Or a Ducati
250 (don't know about year but it's definitely a classic!).

For me that's where they ended. Watercooled 4-strokes aren't classics.

A Jota is a classic in my book, but "nice" it *certainly* ain't. A right
    bruiser that was.

    1) why ? Some of the worlds finest machines have come from Japan, your
statement has a hint of xenophobia about it

    2) there have been many bikes over the years that have gained
"reputations" for handling (good and poor) yet even with a poor
reputation they can still be fun in a perverse way.

    3) perhaps I'm biased but very few bikes are not nice in their own way.

    4) herd mentality ... using that proviso then a Ford Mondeo will be a
classic one day .... (no doubt it will to someone too)

Well I would certainly notice any one of those...

At the moment I only have the one on the road, a rather
tatty K100RS (sort of burgandy in colour, I imagine the BMW
    name will be more romatic).

Hopefully in the next few days however the NSU Prima iiiKL
should be up and running (sorry to name a scooter in this
group). Closely followed by my BMW R51/3 (now all the bits
are back from spraying by a mate).

Then I will move onto my two mopeds, a Cazenave and a
Batavus HS50, sad but strangely appealing...
