If the EXUP1000 isn't a classic nothing is.

A 'classic' is anything which you have some sort of rosy recollection of,
but will be sadly disillusioned by if you finally get to ride the piece of
    shite.

My EXUP was the first truly great bike I owned, by miles. In fact the
improvement over the competition of the time felt greater then the current
    R1 over the EXUP.

Only the first one. For example, my '63 D7 Bantam is a *classic*.

Which would count for numbers 1, 2, and 5 on your list.

That'll rule your bantam out on 3 counts then...

    1) pretty bloody daft
    2) EXUP Vs Bantam - there is no contest
    3) I've had both, the EXUP was nice the Bantam was pathetic
    4) so the EXUP wins hands down all round then

    HTH

Any reason why a classic can not be a POS? I remember Bantams well and
there is no way I'd want one now (or then), but they were /the/ BSA two
stroke machine and a significant machine of the era.

There are others. How about those two stroke twin fanny barnetts with
    all the panels?

AOL. A classic to me is an older bike that you could enjoy owning again.

Bantams were shite 45 years ago, let alone now.
