Hi Doug,

Tiscali have had some sort of email server problem for the past couple
of weeks, which affects their links to the outside world. One result
of this has been a massive reduction in spam and general delivery
delays.

I have recorded five spams in the past 24 hours, all deleted by
Mailwasher from the server, only one of which had an attachement. This
latter mentioned something about only being able to send 7 bit mail,
therefore would I please open the attachment. This attachement I
suppose contained a virus, as Mailwasher flagged it up as such and
like the rest, deleted it on the server.

In the past I have seen lots of shot gun type attempts to get spam and
virus through to genuine addresses, were copies have attempted to be
delivered to lots of similar addresses to my own. I think they just
generate the addresses at random, in the hopes that some will get
through.
