I'm sure some of the usual suspects will be having something of a high
speed hoon around the area but lunch in Paris doesn't enter my plans.

I haven't been to Paris since I was a kid.

It's about 1.5 hours from Lille to Paris so it's not too bad but
that's all motorway and I really don't want to waste my time blasting
up and down a French motorway just to sit and watch you and Nige
    stroking each others inner thighs.

You've not met Cane yet. He'll have all sorts of drugs available
that'll make you more willing to see his point of view.

I was talking about this with BD recently. Even if you did get here,
you'd not have enough time to see the whole city in one day. It'd be a
    waste of time, TBH.

What about going to the Canadian memorial and preserved trenches and
tunnels at Vimy ridge, lunch at a particularly good resturant I know
nearby, on to Arras for general town stuff, and then a general blast
back across the flat featureless country that is northern France to
    the hotel.
I do know this area a bit, so there shouldn't be *too* much gettting
    lost!

Aye. I remember that classless **** Judge having a piss next to the sign
asking visitors to show appropriate respect.

That was the trip where Big Tony got his Autoroute ticket from the HGV

SWMBO has determined that the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille is worth a
visit. Second only to the Louvre, allegedly.

Looking at the site, it appears they have reasonable grub, too.

    I'm up for that!

HOTB also likes the sound of that. Maybe we can join up and leave them
    to it?

I've already suggested that as a Friday lunchtime diversion. It's only 18
miles from there to the hotel.

I'm staying at a pub in Dover, as are several others. I'm going to try to
blag my way onto the 10.05 ferry (actually booked on the 1240 one) to get
    there at a sensible time.

If I leave my house, I should be able to get there at lunchtime :)

Bad form, but when I say leave my house, I mean at the time your ferry
leaves. Not now (before funny remarks are bing made about me SKOGA-ness).

Sure. We were planning to have a traipse round the Citadel too, but it
seems to be still occupied by the French Army.

It is very fine, although not second to the Louvre. Lille itself is a
    fine town too.
