Ok, this may well be a Ginge so apple ogies up front.
Scrolling back a few days or so there was yet another thread on readers and
what they do well, or not so well in the case of some. For the last two months
I have been trialling a new reader, not because I was unhappy in any way
with Agent, but sat here 24/7 'healing' it is just too much time and I thought
    why not...

JetBrains Omea Reader V2.0 is a "nice" little bit of kit, it has only just
come out of early release version, but the latest download is bug fixed from
the ERV and happily handles all non binaries groups and also ATOM/RSS feeds,
it also imports your faves for web pages too. My fave little bit is the 'WorkSpace'
a nifty little idea that means you can create seperate areas where groups
for say work, biking or kids and the family keep everything nice and apart
    :)

Enough of the pitch, if anybody fancies it look here.

One small setback is it runs under .NET, but I doubt that is too much of
an issue, if it is stay with OE :)

Funnily enough, I checked your headers this morning, having spotted
your use of a non-standard indent character. Yes, I know it's fucking
sad. Anyway, I had a look at the site already and d/led it - and then
dragged through the .NET d/l and install. I'll give it a spin, just
because I love piddling about with new toys.

Await a post (from Elly's PC, likely) appealing for help 'cos I've
    bust this one again.

Interested to share your thoughts. I like Omea cos it does lots of things
and looks nice, but I am easily pleased, especially when it comes to new
    toys.
    Mmmmm shiny.

    The indent looks wanky.

    Hello sweller,

    s> The indent looks wanky.

Now we are getting to the constructive crticism. Excellent.

Joking aside, it does make the posted text difficult to read - or at
least not as easy to quickly scan.

That, and the salutation, look like an affectation.

TBH, I think "wanky" summed it up quite well.

[Fires up Agent to check out wanky]
I'm keen to find out what Pip and Champ think after a couple of days of use.
I like lots of the features in Omea, but I do agree that the salutations
are "wanky". However, it is a new product and the developers are listening
to forum users who request new features that are available on their current
news reader proggies. I know one of the promised features is customisable
headers, due in on one of the small updates some time soon.

The indents are colour coded and each quoted thread text is easily read in
Omea, so it looks v different this end, but given the obvious bad points
I still consider it worth using and the fact is that this newsreader is going
to get better as users are being given a hand in adding usefulness. I have
too much time on my hands.

Something about it breaks the colour coding in XanaNews. Your replies
are the same colour as the text you're quoting. It also seems to add
spurious indent characters to parts of a post, as you can see from the
last two lines of sweller's post above - two 's>' rather than the one
    's>' on the first line.

Can't you turn it off and set it to 'normal'?

    Looks pretty normal in there.
