I'm not really renowned for my lightning-like comprehension of a
situation ;-)

Doesn't help that I'm always last to hear any gossip...

 

I have my instructors hat on now so listen.

The 500cc bikes are easier to ride than the 125's. They have better brakes,
suspension and balance. They are, in my opinion, much safer. You can keep up
with traffic on the motorway and you don't get pushed into the kerb, 50% of
the biking accidents are on 125's or under.

Fantastic! I "had a go" on a 500 one lesson and was amazed at how
beautifully it handled in comparison to the 125 (an SR, which I get on
with quite well, and very much better than the abomination to Suzuki
which is the TamTam). It would have been better had I not locked the
back wheel, but having done that twice on the 125 (without the
instructor noticing) I was fine. Not panicing helps. Finding the
sensation somewhat amusing perhaps did too. Only the instructor and my
SO who were watching seemed to think the oncoming truck was a problem
(whereas I knew it was settling and would stop in time).
