So many roads, so little time. Basically ask those "in the know"
(as in, several from this group, not me) for what roads haven't
been fucked up by councils looking for more revenue.

I tended to prefer Wales or the south coast away from London.
But I was a slow-as-**** rider who liked scenery and pleasant
bimbles. Others here have different tastes and agendas.

I asked but you were the only one who answered :-( But I spotted a blurb
on the A314 ( i think that's the right one, I bookmarked it anyway) so
that's filed away, I'll lurk and see what gets mentioned, 12 months
before I get there, so no rush :)
    Kewl, thanks.
Well Mick Doohan I ain't, just an average rider. But I ride to see the
scenery more than trying to prove I'm the quickest bloke on the road anyways

I don't have to prove anything, I just like riding fast.

So do you actually get to see the scenery while riding fast ?

I find that at anything over 200K (errm 125mph ?) things are getting a
bit busy to be looking at scenery, unless you're on a bum numbing multi
lane dead straight boring freeway, but I avoid those.

Riding fast into nice scenery. Not such a good idea.

Ta. Are these the same type that you have to be ready to dodge out of
the way of 'cos they're on your side of the road 'cos they're not as
quick as they think they are ?

If not, can I send you some ?

    JL
(spent this morning's ride dodging twats who don't know how fast they
can corner until they find they've exceeded it)

That would be the scenery that is centred around the white stripe then ?
The black ribbon that keeps running away ? Or the bits you see when you
    stop for a smoke ?

And that sir, is my biggest reason for wanting to live on your isle for
    a little while.

If I didn't have to work for a living, so would I :)
Fair enough, but that's where the best opportunities are, it's time to
get out of the small pond of Sydney.
    Fix things ! :)

I've spent the last 6 years working in IT,in various coy.s turning
    around underperforming/off the rails depts/teams/divisions/projects.

Basically I specialise in creating (positive) change. Come the end of
the year I finish the MBA* (touch wood) and I'll go dive into a bigger
pond and see if I can find some more fun things to do.

    JL
*Exec MBA - dunno about the UK but we do MBAs a bit different to the US
in Oz, most people do them after they've got 10 years work experience
rather than 2 years like the US

Yeah well it's just a bit of paper really, but hopefully I can con some
naive Pommies into thinking I've got half a clue :)

It seems to be a fair swap, I think I know as many ex pat Poms as I do
Aussie borns. They all think I'm mad for wanting to go over :)
Yeah that's pretty much the case here too :-(

I'd say so, tbh... but whatever, it'll do you good to see here - I know some
that have come here then liked it that much, and others who decided to go
    back.

Here has far more 'depth' overall, if 'things to do' are your cup of tea - I
did most of what I wanted to do in Sydney, in under a week, but having spent
a fair bit of time in London over the years, I still have plenty of things
I'd like to do there; both cities are basically the premium cities of the
respective countries (IMHO - I appreciate that Melbourne in some respects is
on par with Sydney, and I didn't get to go there), so on a 'commercial
attraction / heritage' scale, I'd say here wins hands down - but as a place
    to actually live?

The older I am getting, the more I am craving a more laid back life style,
than the one I get here... maybe I read it wrong, but in the limited
experiences I have of Oz, it struck me as somewhere that offers that in
spades - given actual time living there, my opinion may differ.

I intend, in time, to emigrate there... personal reasons are the main reason
why I don't right now, with the other being I need a bit more time in my new
career, to qualify on the points scale.
