I can't visualise that. I keep coming up with some sort of Planet of the
    Apes outtake.

You've got to grow one for the BOSM, and we can all have a laugh. Then we
    can shave you for charidee.

and I suspect the Greater London figure is a bit old as well.

Let's just agree that London is big, like the outer ring-road (M25) is 117
    miles (187kms) long.

  8. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Dave Emerson"
    so mind-bogglingly big...

Well I won't argue that that is on the agenda :)

Naah I won't be doing that, I'm only good on the drinking side of the
bar. Besides I'm a bit old for the traditional backpacker schtick.
Hehe, as do yours when they come and invade Bondi every summer, which I
don't mind in the slightest, British lasses seem to have little
inhibition about getting their boobs out :)

Some idea but not totally au fait. I've been there twice briefly on
business, I know it's big (and bloody expensive in a cab from Heathrow).
I've not seen anything outside of a couple pubs, hotels and offices,
plus the airport - ie nothing much outside the city.
Yeah, I figured, hell it takes me an hour to get out of Sydney on the
weekend (I live in the inner city). But there's a difference between
that and "it takes an hour and half to get to the outskirts and then
you have to ride 3 hours up a motorway to find good curvy road (ie ride
4 hours to get to good riding)". Is it the case once you clear the main
city you get onto fun roads (ie is it maybe, under 2 hours to get to the
good stuff ? ) Obviously it depends on where you'll be living but
    assuming city centre-ish.
IIRC it's more like 17m and 20m respectively, but regardless, yes, big
city, that's one of the reasons I want to live there,
No idea yet, I'll be getting there in early '06,any suggestions where I
should look ? Should be able to earn a decent wage* so I'd like to live
somewhere reasonably nice, not planning on backpacking it or sharing a
    squat with 40 others.
So it doesn't matter where you head, there are that many good riding
    roads ? No favourites ?

Yeah but almost half of them are in the UK :) According to the SMH anyway.

On the other hand we have over a million Poms in Oz...so it's currently
    running in the UK's favour.

Persactly. Which was the only time on ukrm, that everyone seems to be
    in agreement. Nearly. :)

Mine is silver/gunmetal... I've grown it because of the cold
weather... It makes me look like an older version of me, not
    surprisingly...

There's a few good roads inside the M25 (London circle road),
and many more just outside. 4 hours gets you to fucking Wales
or Scotland. It's a bloody small country. I used to ride year
round around London (with a few days off for snow and the like).
Further north it gets a little bit colder.

Course, haven't been there for almost 3 years now, so things
    might have changed.

Thanks. Any particular areas to head for, for preference ? Or just go
for a ride and see where you end up(1) ?
