  3. Go through Yellow Pages and call them *all*.

Norwich Union were good for me TPO when I passed my test.

I reckon you should be able to knock a ton of that if you call round.

You missed out: "...and when you have the best price, go back and phone them
all *again*, and ask them to beat that price."

Prepare to be not at all stunned when they suddenly find they can knock a
    few quid more off.

Oh, and post at the bottom FFS.

  5. No. Save time. Ask them there and then. I always say "Before I carry on
my phone round is there *anything* we can do to get that premium down?"

Often they drop a bit but to be honest I think they can often tell
someone who is *really* phoning round and just give you their lowest
    quote first time.

You must always phone a lot though. You pretty much get a feel for what
the best quote is gonna be. (eg If your three lowest quotes so far are
within £3 is it really likely you're gonna be getting a quote 40%
    lower with call num 20?)

The range always amazes me. Every year the lowest quote is approx 1/10
    of the highest.

For a new rider 400 odd notes is pretty respectable for a new bike,
    especially if it's fully comp.

How old are you out of interest? If you're under 30 then it's a very
    good price.

Direct choice are often worth a shout.

Hastings too tho from what they said the cheap underwriter they had was
cooling toward new bike business except for small stuff.
