Going to Christchurch on a work junket ( I'm not even gonna pretend that
    it's work ) in August.
    Coupla questions:
    1. Best place to hire a bike for a day ?
    2. Approx price ?
    3. What' NZ helmet standards ??? Dunno if I wanna take mine all the way, but
if NZ has the same standards as Aus, might buy a new one there for the ride
and bring back ( assuming they're reasonably priced ).
    Otherwise will just hire.
    4. I assume that they'll hire out all the gear as I don't wanna have to take
    everything with me.

    Any help appreciated.

This one is recommended by Dave Milligan, one of our group (feb ride 05)
    booked an F560GS there.
From what I've seen on the net, there is another mob around, but they
operate out of the same premises/ from same address, so I guess they're just
running the business under 2 diff names. Rates/ conditions were identical.

If you contact Dave (www.getrouted.com.au) ask him for a copy of the book
"Great Escapes" (50 best Bike rides in NZ), good stuff and WELL worth the $.
    cheers

No idea, wouldn't be cheap though
Aussies have thicker skulls than Kiwi's so helmets aren't an issue.
Or bring your helmet with you.
Yes they would hire the gear also.

I live in Christchurch so anymore questions then fire them at me. If I
use your email method then email me at

Bring warm clothes as well. There is snow on the hills, and daytime
high temps are around 12 degrees.
Might be a bit of a shock to Aussies, as (so the tourism people tell
me) Australia is a land of eternal sunshine, and the bits that aren't
red are long white sand beaches filled with pretty things in bikinis
    :)
