I put on 2 stone when I packed up smoking nearly eight years ago. I was
a pretty heavy smoker and I think it fucks up your metabolism so even if
you eat the same amount you'd still put on weight.

 

I found it really difficult at the time and I /wanted/ to stop. I did in
the end but it wasn't easy, for me.

There are no end of people who *really* want to lose weight and get
fit, right up until the point where they have to actually do something

Yep. Our planned summer fortnight is to hit the Tyrol, and company for
at least some of that would be nice.

 

May be able to get away if her indoors is away on respite care.
Must do the Stelvio again sometime.

 

If only V didn't insist on going on holidays I'd have more spare days to
use for something enjoyable.

sure - where do you have in mind?

 

I don't know if they still do it, but I used to hire Kemble airfield
with a bunch of mates. It was much more fun than an organised trackday
as you could do what the **** you liked, & you have it for the whole
day all to yourself.

The tower give you a walkie talkie so they can tell you to get off the
runway pronto when a plane's coming in, which added to the excitement.
