    heh

Pity you're not able to put yourself in a position where you'll eat
    those words, eh? :)

Perfect for Alpine roads, tho, I'd say.

Not so good for getting to and from the mountains, however.

  4. Pah. Stick it at 90mph and don't stop when the smokers have to have
    their fag breaks.

Plan A appears to be holed below the waterline, following a visit from
a window replacement company before I got up this morning.

  6. Oh poo.

I'm waiting for Honda to put that CB1100R retro-styled thing into
    production.

For the first time in ages there's a new Honda I might actually want to
    buy.

And I've got to do one 'major' CapEx purchase before the end of the
financial year. Computers, cameras and bikes all qualify.

    Sounds ideal.

Am I on the mailing list yet Champ or did my non-**** clique application
    fail?

This works for me. If I'm riding >400 miles across boring terrain I will
just keep going. The need for fewer fuel stops and very short comfort
breaks means I'm usually amongst the first of any group to get to a hotel.

Bugger. That's a bit underhand, mind.

Did the window bloke measure up in the bedroom? Er, so to speak.

Well quite. I have some little experience of travelling long
distance. I rarely cruise above a ton - it's physically much harder
work, and burns fuel - the trick, as you obviously know, is to
minimise the lengh and frequency of stops.

Bear used the opposite of this approach when we went to France with
Porl and Mat Tab - cruising at 130 when on the autoroute, and then
spending 30 mins smoking and drinking coffee at each stop :) Our
    average was shite.

    They're coming back next Saturday.

    While I'm at work.

I can still afford it, but it's not so easy.

£3k down and £130 a month, less what they'll give me for the B'bird.

    So, £129.50 a month, then.

Unless it's turned into a complete shed since the last time I saw it, you
should still get a reasonable amount back on that as they seem to hold their
    money reasonably well.

Well no they don't actually - £500, and I'll collect now, ok? ;-)

If you've not thrown it up the road with those new fangled cans on it and
still have the standards, they'll be worth swapping back over and selling on
    separately as well.

This is how I managed to knock nearly three hours off my best time to
Orthez, or about seven hours off my(our) average.

Of course, the Blackbird's cruising speed is a little higher than the
    Wing's

And don't forget the numerous times he's wished death on me and others
    in UKRM.[/QUOTE]

A blatant lie. Nowhere, _never_ in my posting here (or on any other
group), have I seriously advocated or 'wished' the death of anyone.

Because you don't understand. Neither does Mr Bragg. And he never
will. Unless he converts, and even then, he probably wouldn't get it.
You remind me of YTC (and not for the reason that his 'nick' would leave
    you imagine).

Whereas I caught you up on the way back from Chimay by using a
combination of the two - 130mph up the autoroute with stops that only
last long enough for refuelling and a piss.

The other point is that most people stop way too early. Ash and I
blasted back from the Ardennes last year. 100 miles at 140ish, then
10-15 miles in some traffic, then 40 miles at about a ton until we
"found" fuel. Both our fuel lights came on at about 125 miles, yet after
155 miles, I only put in 15 lites. So still had a fair bit left. And his
R1 was almost exactly the same.
