No, it's just these jeans are a bit tight.

Oh, hang on, I see. Yes, good plan. I'm on raisins ATM.

Only problem with nuts and raisins is that they're surprisingly high in
    sugar (fruit) and calories (nuts).

Still better than eating a load of crisps mind you.

    figs.

It's only one letter different, you'll hardly notice the difference.
Plus, all the extra time spent on the shitter would also replace
    smoking time.

    1. Because I've been meaning to do it for ages, ever since last time I
    started, in fact.
    2. It costs me a fortune[1]
    3. Emma (who's an advertisers dream) keeps asking things like "Are you
going to die because you do cigarettes, daddy?".
    4. I freeze my bollocks off at home.
    5. At work I have to keep traipsing from my office on the 11th floor to the
    smoke room on the 1st.

    That's pretty much it.

Nice one Andy, good luck with the endeavour. Regarding alternatives to the
evil weed I don't want you to take this the wrong way but surely the last
thing a giant fat **** like you needs is something "to nibble on".

If you stop smoking you will have less exercise, will get fat and will STILL
be in trouble with your daughter.

    Not really a reason, though.
    Cut down.
    Don't smoke when she's around.
    Don't smoke at home.
    Don't smoke at work.
So you don't actually _want_ to be a non-smoker, then? I often feel
that people who try, and usually fail, to give up due to external
pressure could do a lot better by modifying their smoking behaviour
rather than simply cutting it out altogether.

For example, once you have given up and are tempted to have the odd
one, there's a tendency to simply accept failure and revert back to
the previous behaviour, rather than allowing oneself to smoke when you
feel like it without it being seen as a big deal.

Dunno if that makes sense to you, like, but I'd be interested to know
if others have adopted this idea and with what results.

Me? Well, as I only smoke in very specific situations, and average
about four a day (including drinking sessions etc.) I'm perhaps
already at the 'modified' stage, although I did find it irritating on
two recent trips to California and Canada to find that it's impossible
to smoke in a bar (although there was one in one of the ski stations
that still allowed it), which is one time that I do normally indulge.
As a result, Jude and I got through a total of two packs between us
    over the course of a two weeks skiing trip :-}

It may be gay (but not as gay as your hat), but at least it's not expensive.

So what you are really saying is that you use nicotine as a recreational
    drug.

Difficult to do with addictive substances for most people. Especially
when it is so ready and cheaply available.

  18. Dried fruit: mango, apricot, etc. Anything leathery and tough to
    chew...

Avoid peanuts. I took to em with a passion. Ended up with an extra
    ~15kg to lug around.(

    Good luck

Nah, I've tried that in the past and found that it doesn't work.

I can manage for a couple of days or even week just smoking when I've having
a drink, say, but then I find that I'll have a drink just so I can smoke and
it all goes down hill from there.
Once I've had a fag again, whatever the situation, I quickly fall back into
old habits and I'm back on 20-30 a day.

The problem is that I _really_ like smoking.
