New Year's Resolutions? Here's mine.

Discussion in 'Bay Area Bikers' started by REInvestments, Dec 31, 2003.

  1. Well did you make any? And if so, what are they?

One of mine is to stay out of the newsgroups and put the extra time into
some other hobbies, or (shudder) work. So, if I can beat my newsgroups
addictions, you'll have less of my posts to deal with. HHH will be crushed,
    I'm sure.

Thanks everybody on KTM opinions. If I come back to riding, I think I've
zeroed in on going "backwards" and going with something like a KLR 650, KTM
950, DR650, Tiger 955, Cagiva Gran Canyon, BMW 1150 GS, Duc Multistrada,
with a certain amount of temptation to go back to ST3, Monster 1000 dual
    spark or S4.

When I gave away the leathers and the helmet, I didn't give away the Widder,
the triumph boots, the gloves, or the SIDI armored. So I figure I'm an Arai
    DS away from being outfitted.

And one errant thought of a 999. For God knows why.

For some reason I have a strong desire to do a bad weather ride up 9, over
35, down 84 to 1, then over Golden Gate Bridge up to Fort Bragg, and then
wander inland, and see if I can find some roads or trails back to San Jose,
CA. I'm thinking rain, and another rain bike. Don't ask me why.

I'll check Newsgroups this afternoon and probably make a few further posts
then . I would like to stay in touch with many of you off groups. If
any of you wants to get in touch with me, use the following, after taking
    out AT and DOT: LWallersteinATBTCommercialDOTcom

Wishing you all many, many miles of sun up and rubber down trips along
waterways and over mountains with technical turns great friends, good
coffee, and suspension tuned properly to your weight.

How one would only wish that HHH would resolve to get a life and also stay
out of the newsgroup. Oh well, it is nice to dream.

I enjoy riding in the rain. A good steady rain cleans the pavement off
wonderfully, except in the twisties, where it's likely to bring gravel
down off the slopes onto the pavement. Yours sounds like an
interesting route. There are plenty of small back roads you can take,
and avoid the superslab most of the time. Getting through the delta
may require some coping with traffic, as you're constrained to cross
bridges, but other than that, just check large scale local maps and
look for the lines that are least stright. Don't bother planning too
far ahead, as weather may alter the route significantly.

    Enjoy your trip!

Pussy, I knew you weren't a real biker. Real motorcyclists adjust
    their weight to their suspension!

  5. Is this 4 valve Ducati an actual 999 or the previous generation?

Cause I'll agree the previous model was basically an overpriced
kitbike with reliability to match but the current model struck me as
    far more refined.

Ride more. Got a good start on that with the last two months of 2003; 1,942
miles in between Northern Virginia rain and snow storms.

That's my resolution as well, I've only managed 1500 miles in the last 4
weeks (and 350 of that was xmas and the saturday following), but I plan on
making up for it in the next couple of weekends :)

I volunteered for some OT at work this week, myself. We had a DC8
charter for Americares to do pallet buildups for. In all, we packed up
30+ tons of relief supplies for the earthquake victims in Iran. The
plane should be arriving there today. We still have stuff left over
that couldn't fit on the plane.

    Good luck in your trek.

This Moike character is seemingly like the annoying bigger brother who
tells you all about menstruation and STD's just as you started jacking
    off to Playboy.

I own the GS1150 and have owned / ridden the DR and the KLR. They sure ain't
interchangable bikes. I can't see them in a pick 'em buying decision any
more than if you threw in a Road King.

  18. Wow, I'm in both of you clown's News Year's resolutions?
You two confused and gullible fools let me occupy way too
much of the severely limited space in your "minds". Amazing
    and amusing.
One of my New Year's resolutions is to put more effort
into educating and enlightening the ignorant and the
gullible. They're starting to take too heavy a toll on
    our Country and our Planet....

"After all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy
and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether
it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a
communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be
brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to
do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers
for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works
    the same in any country."

Yeah, right, you'll be back with the latest squidbike that just "doesn't
suit an old man like me".
I bet you also wear your wedding ring in a singles bar.
Sort of like saying you "need space" but still show up on the doorstep
    expecting to get laid....
    blah blah blah

Here are two of my resolutions:

    1. Do my first track day.
    2. Learn how to wheelie (on purpose). (Help, Statman!!!)
