First time I need to buy new tyres for the bike. So how do I get the best
deal? Mainstream high street cage tyre company, bike shop, mail order from
ad at the back of a bike mag, shop around on the net? Where do you get your
tyres? Considering that the annual hysterical season of relieving me of my
hard earned has been particularly succesfull, smallness of price is of
    particular interest.

Martin Watts was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Discount motor bike tyre place. You may even pick up a non-broken sig
    sep on the way.

Depends what tyres you want, where you live and whether your skills are able
to stretch to taking out and refitting the rear wheel. If you cant do this
expect the fitter to charge about £15-£20 extra for a ride in ride out
    service.

I've tried a number of options as I tend to use about 3 sets per year. The
latest option is buying new from ebay (having bid on a few "bargains"
knowing that I don't need the tyres yet) and then giving £5 to the local
    mechanic with the loose wheels.

What bike is it? I tend to pay around £170 for a pair of 120/70/17 &
180/55/17 fitted to loose wheels although the current Sportec M-1's only
    cost £110 new from Ebay.

Use net to find a couple of supply only prices for type of tyre(s) you want
then use those to haggle price with a local outfit you actually trust.
