    Hey Guys,

I need some new rubber for my ZX9R. I only go for a bash on the weekends.I
want something with good grip, as I do ride faster than I should. But I'd
also like something that will last a while. Any advice would appreciated. Id
also like to avoid spending a fortune as well.

    TIA

    Andy.

"I want the performance of an expensive tyre, but I don't want the
    drawbacks or the price".

If you want a really good tyre, pay for it. If you want a tyre that
lasts a long time and is as grippy as one that lasts a short time,
    then guess what?

Just replaced mine. Bridgestone 020 rear, 014 front. Reliable combination,
wears well and good in the wet. Pilot Roads are good too, but I don't like
them in the wet as much.

Every tyre manufacturer has a range of tyres which they say will meet
your criteria... so just go to a bike or tyre shop and buy the cheapest
    tyres you can get.

Whilst it isn't mandatory, I suggest black ones.

Pilot Powers are pretty good in that regard. They don't have the longevity of the Pilot Road though.

My dunlop 208 sport max are $480 or $400 for the brigstone set. duno if i
should spend and extra few hundred on better rubber?

I basicaly I only hammer the bike for a 100k ride on the week ends.

If you buy them at the end of the month they will probably last longer.

so even at worst case you will prob get yourself 6 months out of a rear tyre

if you have been riding on 208's then there is a whole lot of better imho
    tyres out there

    BT014's
    Pilot Powers

visit a shop and see what they have and what they reccomend

about $500 should have you a sticky set fitted , maybe a smidge more
if you want them to remove the wheels as well

<chuckle> IK reckoned he got 2000Km out of the Pilot Race supersticky
ones - that'd do him for 5 months at that rate.

FWIW Andy, for the K's you're doing I'd go fairly sticky, you'll get 6
months out of something sticky easily at your mileage. I just put the
softest Pirelli (diablo corsa ? I forget) on the front and it's very
good, better than the BT14 I had on the front last. IK convinced me to
skip the Pilot Road and I think it was the right call.

    Tyres can:

    1. grip well,
    2. last many kilometers, or
    3. not cost the earth.

    Pick any 2 :)

Don't use the brown ones, they're shit!

Got to say I am very impressed with Metzler I had fitted on the rear the
other day... its a black one!

Ta for the advice : )

A few ppl recommended the Michelins, for $465 fitted is a good price from
    what I can work out.
