A big Texas howdy to you all. I have just moved to a little place not
too far outside of the Dallas Fort Worth area and figured I'd join you
fine folks in this biker group.

My name is Corey and I drive an old Honda 750 Custom.

Lookin forward to sharing a few road stories with ya.

    Take Care

If it's a big deal I can change it.
Nope, I am from Fort Mac in Northern Alberta. I work for an oil field
service supply company and have been transferd to your State for three
months. I am paid up with my ISP for the year so I am still using it.
Its only dial up from here but still good enough for email and
    newsgroups.

I'll be headed home for Christmas and am going to bring the bike back
with me. If I am going to be here I might as well see what kind of
biking sights you have. I thought this would be a good place to here
    about organized rides.

Out of curiosity .. where did you come up with the alias Sputnik.?. He's one
of the best known bikers in the country and Sputnik is his legal name..
<grin> If you are legit.. sorry for the rude welcoming..

Those are some good links Beemer Biker. The Ride Texas one lists a lot
of rides. If I had my bike here I would join that Mesquite Toy Run. It
    is close by.

Do you guys ever get together to ride somewhere?

I was around in the days of Sputnik and just a few days ago saw a tv
    show about it.

    It just sounded good.

I have never heard of anyone called Sputnik.

Sputnik (ours) has held his name for many, many years and he finally went to
court to drop his last name to be known only as Sputnik.. got his first
drivers license after many years of not having one..

Last January when Texas legislative session opened in Austin, we appeared at
a committee meeting to give testimony.. The lady was registering everyone
and when Sputnik told her his name, she asked him what his last name.. He
replied that he didn't have such a thing as a last name.. She made him
produce identification with his picture to prove this his legal name was
Sputnik.. The poor lady got all flustered and had to go and ask someone if
    it was legal..

Later .. Sputnik looked over his shoulder at all of us and grinned.. "Guess
it's a good thing I got this freakin' drivers license, huh ?

Almost any direction that you travel from the DFW metroplex, you will find
good riding areas.. West you will run into the edges of our Hill Country..
North, you will find interesting and neat riding near and just north of the
Oklahoma state line.. East is the Piney Woods area .. And South there are
some of the neatest little towns in our United States.. All within 2 1/2
hours ride from DFW.. Depending on whether you enjoy the ride or the
destination, seems to be something in any direction for anyone..

Gathering places are pretty plentiful, also and scatterred throughout the
    metroplex.. Good luck to you..

<Maybe you should research your own bullshit before throwing it
<out...Mesquite's *well known* for their oil fields. We have so many,
    it's
<hard to keep track of them all!!!

Dallas is well known for their corporate offices. The company I work
    for has an office here.

<You're good for laughs, is about all you're good for!!!

What kind of bug do you have up your Butt Brian? I am not looking to
start any crap, just to learn a little more about the motorcycle sport
    in this area.

Tell ya what. Once I get my bike down here maybe we can meet on the
road somewhere. I have only one rule, when I meet someone on the road,
the first beer is on me.

Don't take Brain seriously. He treats everyone alike (with the
exception if his Pa) - just like shit.
His loves to argue, and be rude, unpleasant, confrontational and
obnoxious. He "Flames to live/Lives to flame".
But whatever you do, don't try to disagree with him, or else you'll be
accused of "picking on the walkers".

Welcome to North Texas. If you get a long weekend, you really need to
ride south, approx. 300 miles from Dallas down to the Texas Hill
Country. Look up Kerrville on a map - best MC roads in Texas IMHO.

Where does the Hill Country start, anyway ? Some say that it is west and
some talk about it being south.. There sure are a lot of historical towns in
the Hill Country, Kerrville is one of them..

So, let's see if I have this straight. You hit this newsgroup for the first
Chill Dood. There is not a boogeyman around every corner and as Freud
once said a cigar is sometimes just a cigar.
Seems like you old boys have been spooked by something around here.

Tell ya what, I am just going to watch the group and once I have my
bike here I'll join you on a few orgainzed meets. That was my only
    intent in the first place.

    Catch ya on the road.

Fair enough.. pard.. I'm looking forward to that coldbeer you offered..
hmmm.. To set your mind at ease, though.. nobody around me is "spooked"..
I'd imagine you'll find that most of these "old boys" don't "spook" too
muich.. Anyway.. let me know when you get that motorcycles down here, and
we'll sure enough do a get together.. OK.. Ride safe..
