New Sign

  1. I'm going to be out of touch here for a week or so, but I wanted to let
you'll know about some efforts of a fellow biker...

Mr Cano from the Panhandle was run over by a pickup while riding his
motorcycle. He complained to the TxDot office in Amarillo that they have
signs warning about not running over such things as livestock, deer and even
illegal aliens so why don't they have signs about motorcycles. Thanks to his
efforts TxDot in Austin developed a drawing for a sign (included) to share
the road with motorcycles. I met with TxDot with the Engineering Dept.
    yesterday and they said
cities have permission to make these signs and place them in their city. I
also met with Clif at the Motorcycle Safety Division and told him I would
like to see this sign become part of our program next year. Following that I
made copies of the design and passed them out to all Representatives at the
capitol. I asked that they contact their home towns and ask that they put
some of these signs up especially at the city limit signs. I figure they may
carry more clout than we might. Representative Jerry Madden told his staff
    to
immediately draft a letter to Richardson and ask for their
assistance. Download a copy of this and ask your city to put up a few. Once
some are in place we can go to the media wth pictures and ask that other
cities to follow suit. Congratulations to Mr. Cano for his persistence.

  2. Looks to me like an excellent opportunity for some entrepeneur (sp?) to
    make some cash with T-shirts.

I'm passing the jpg around to my scooter friends.

    Thanks.
