Has anybody heard of new design helmets that let you see what's directly
    behind you?

I overheard some guys talking about them in Elizabeth St this morning but
they couldnt tell me the name of the company.

Christmas hasn't arrived yet, so there's no way it's April yet!

I believe it is called "turning your head" and "using your mirrors", iirc.

There is an article in the December "Two Wheels". It channels light from
behind on to a small area on top of the visor. Developed for racing so they
can see what is behind them, maybe prevent accidental collisions? Can't
    recall the company.

It was an article in the motor guide of the herald sun
The helmet has been developed and will be brought into production but
    not in australia atm
    I'ts no joke it exists.
the mirror sits above the eyes and works by some sort of prismatic
    reflection.

I've got a pair of stick-on eyes on the back of the Nolan, but I have

Just on this Lid with the rear view technology, I emailed Reevu for
    some more information.

Here's the reply, but I've returned his email asking whether "All
Markets" really includes Oceania or just all Euro/US markets.

    Dear Sir / Madam

The production shall be at the beginning of 2004. The reason why we
launched the Helmet at Milan in Sep was to ascertain the reaction from
distributors that represent the motorsports market. The technology and
the helmets astounded everyone as well as the motorsports enthusiasts
as you can imagine. The helmet will be available for all markets and
will come with all of the relevant standards in sizes range from XS to
XXL. It is manufactured to the best available technology with anti
scratch anti bacteria and real ventilation system made in Italy. 10
years of research and development have gone into this product to give
the consumer the best available product at this time. The helmet will
be available in Black and Black Matt And Silver and Silver Matt. The
price will be circa 350 to 400 euro depending on Local taxes. And
transport. That is approx £258. Keep checking our web site for
updates of distribution after Jan 2004. Hopefully the product Images
will be available in the next couple of Months to be viewed on the
web. At www.reevu.com and also coming to a place near you in 2004.
