Not much response to a question I posed mid thread, so excuse me if
you've already read it and had nothing to say:

    New or pre-registered?

    K750S RRP £5500

    Options:

    1) Brand new, unregistered 06 bike from a local dealer for £4700 with
first service free and a promise of doing a good deal on new
helmet/jacket which I happen to want (will also deliver for free if the
weather is crap). Total cost (inc. 1st service) £4700 - but I might save
£100 on the other gear too.

    2) Brand new, pre-registered (yesterday!) 05 bike on a 55 plate from a
dealer 100+ miles away for £4000 (will cost me £200 to have delivered or
a train ticket (£50) and 5 hours of my time, probably in the wet on the
way home)? Total cost, (inc. 1st service) £4100 - £4300

The only disadvantages I can see with pre-registered is that I am the
2nd owner, and the insurance company might not stump up for another
brand new one if I write it off in the first 12 months.

Is £500 (almost 10%) money well spent with a local dealer for a truly
new bike, or am I better going with an order over the phone on the
    pre-registered one?

  2. What he said. And he's going to crash it anyway.

Yeah, decided to go with the new bike from local dealer. Got a
reasonable deal on a new helmet/jacket at the same time and they saved
me 100 quid on the insurance too (just over 200 quid FC). After
factoring in delivery / hassle it's not much more and it's nice to be
    first owner.

Second hand on a z750s, because it's new, wasn't going to save much at
    all.
