Editing a word in a post and making a comment okay ...

Removing half the sentence is taking it a bit far - especially when I
actually remembered to put the right sentence in the first place.

In that case I'd hate to be stood behind one when the engine lets go.

    FFS, it's *marketing*, not "advertising".

rubbish below 4 thou. Didn't actually get above 4 thou but I bet it's
rubbish there as well. And it only had one footrest! Honda build quality my

    why is that?

As I see it there are a number of possible reasons:

    a) only Italian bike manufacturers employ designers with the necessary
flair to get away with underseat exhausts
    b) they actually do look terrible on any bike, but people buy into the
    hype of "italian style"
    c) you've got an irrational dislike of japanese bikes with underseat
    exhausts?

Certainly not my idea of a good looking bike. Wouldn't mind a go on
one though. There are more pictures and info in the comic this week.
The new R1 isn't *too* bad but I still prefer the current model. TBH
none of the 2004 stuff would make me want to part with £8k+.

....and this fucking thing really did clobber itself on the fall
    through the ugly tree...

If that's the replacement for the Hornet the designer should be shot,
although the naked version is "passable".

    How so?

It's an exact quote from the honda TV ad therefore in my mind is
    advertising.

I see marketing as people talking to other people about products, doing
    seminars, offering free trials, etc.

    Cuddly toy?

Act chewily, underseat storage is one thing that the GT lacks. There
is a small space, currently occupied by the tool kit, that would be
sufficient for Kate Moss's lunch, but bugger all else.

they're different jobs, really. Marketing is usually in-house,
    advertising usually isn't.

I see marketing as deciding which direction a product is going in and
which market it's aimed at. Advertising is then the targeting of
    those markets.

Marketing holds the customer down while sales screws them.

What's the deal with all these new Hondas this year - it "International Year
of the Shitty Little Bike" or something?
