  1. Talk about mining your heritage, and cynical marketing exercises...

    1000GT

Which I think is a horrible thing, compare it to the original at
    http://www.digitalartclassics.com/motorcycles/ducati_10.html

    1000SS "Paul Smart replica",
    http://www.ducati.com/docs_eng/photogalleries2/sportclassic/images/f07_1024x768.jpg
which is a little closer to the original

    And a 1000 sport
    http://www.ducati.com/docs_eng/photogalleries2/sportclassic/images/f08_1024x768.jpg

Which I think misses rather badly compare it to

I think the new ones are too cobby and bitsy in the lines, no curving
flow about them. The sidecovers are too small or missing altogether,
the tanks have bulging ugly lines. THe originals look lean, these look
    fat. Ick.

I'de have to agree with you there on all of em, but I do like the look of
the new 1000SS (probably because I'm such a fan of the old 750SS, 900SS
etc). It'd be interesting to see what they handle/go like, or are they just
too outdated already! Gone are the days when SS actually meant something on
    a Ducati!

I quite like the look of the GT.
Mind you; the forks and brakes look boy-racer stupid but the rest of the bike looks quite usable.
I agree that the originals look better though.

Isn't it there to show you what Optimax has done to your megawankerbuck
    tank?

    Or is that being obtuse?

I disagree with all of you.
I think they look fantastic. Why not mine your heritage?
I think the Sport looks the best. If they make it, I'm gettin' one. Sick of
    the jap inline fours.

I think everyone's being a bit too sensitive about the whole retro thing.
If it looks good (1000 sport), and to my eyes it does, and doesn't
compromise much on performance, what's the problem? The Fireblade has to be
ridden at warp velocities to have fun on.

  15. This guys are only doing what VW Bettle,MINI,FordGT40 i.e. the auto-industry
and a zillion others have done already, gone back to the future

Every other retro or special edition Ducati done has been well recieved, i am
sure this will be a sell out too, these are just mobile art pieces for mostly
    snotty collectors and speculators

In another decade or so they will perhaps re-do the origonal 916 !! Greatest
and sexiest Superbike of all time ,how weird will that be

Not sure about them only being bought by collectors and speculators. I'd
get one as a regularly used road bike. I don't mind paying a bit more as
that at least offers some exclusivity. Are they intended only as a special
release or as a regular model?

A mate bought a Ducati 888 as an "investment". He rides it occasionally.
I wonder what it'd be worth today. Anyone got any ideas? I think he paid
mid 20s for it. Not sure exactly.

Which one? The Senna, SP or Strada? The only one of that bunch to hold
its value seems to be the Senna.

If the Redbook is to be believed, the Senna's private sale value is
around $28k. All the others are around $12k or so.
