    You're assuming his partner isn't on a £100k salary.

I'm glad I can buy bikes using disposable income.

"Disposable." What a strange modifier for income. I can almost hear
Billy Connolly's take on it. If you don't spend it, do you have to
    toss it in the bin?

Fair play, mate. Bloke needs an exit strategy. We used to refer to
escape tunnels in local govt, but you're surrounded by 'em!

    All the best, Paul.

The Circle & District trains re different, are they?

They always look the same to me, but then these days I only really care
that they're frequent, not rammed full and get me to the pub on time.

    It's like "affordable housing".

As in, "the development will consist of 400 houses, of which 20% will
    be affordable".

The Circle line, Hammersmith & City line and Wimbledon to Edgware Road
branch of the District line use the same, smaller trains with yellow
    trim. I'd guess that's C stock.

The rest of the District line (Richmond, Ealing Broadway and other
Wimbledon trains) uses the bigger ones with green trim. D stock.

    They look pretty different.

My point being that despite a bit of trim being a different colour,
from a driver's perspective, they look pretty much the same (to me).
As opposed to the difference between a Central Line train and a Jubilee
    Line train, say.
So does a red Seat Leon look "pretty different" to a blue one?

They've both got a seat and a handle, there can't be much more to it.

Does a red mk1 Seat Leon look pretty different to a blue mk2? Yeah, I'd
    say so.

Put them side by side and you'll notice more of a difference. The D
stock is taller, has single doors rather than double doors, no border
round the end windows and crucially DOESN'T LOOK LIKE C STOCK.

I wouldn't expect a yokel to understand. To you they're both different
kinds of scary metal beast that eats people through its sides.

Yeah, yeah. You seem to have me down as a Paul Corfield-wannbe![1]
As I said earlier, as long as they're frequent, not packed and help me
get to the pub on time...

    [1] No offence, Paul!

  16. None taken. I am more bemused to see Ogden finally step out of the train
spotter closet. We got close with Simon K's remarks in the past but it
is nice to have a replacement "normal" look as if he is to join the
    train loony fraternity.

They couldn't be more different to drive. The C stock is a moody bitch,
D stock is a real sweety.

They may look similar (the obvious difference is double doors on the C
and a big single door on the D) but they are technically worlds apart.

While not disagreeing with the general sentiment of your post, I think
classifying oggers as normal, with or without quotes, is stretching
    things a littl^H^H^H^ a fair b^H^H^H beyond breaking point.
