New Chain- which brand?

    OK,

12000 miles and whilst my chain looks immaculate it's stretched enough
that I can lift it a good couple of mm off the rear chainring... so it's
time for a new one I reckon, yes?

I'd quite like one of those gold coloured ones, but more importantly
what brands of chain are good, particularly on bikes with around 80
    ft/lb of torque..

I use an Afam chain on my bike.It has done 2500 punishing miles so far,
including sprints and flyers, and has only had to be adjusted slightly
twice.I got it from FWR in Kennington, South London, where I also buy my
tyres.I paid £100 for the gold x-ring chain and a pair of sprockets.

Here is my bike, lowered yesterday ready for another attempt at a 200mph
    flying quarter next weekend.

A couple of mm? With the slack held taught so the chain is tight? I
wouldn't have thought that was bad enough for replacement yet, by a long
    chalk.

Well going by the manual it says 323 mm between 21 rivets is replacement
time, mine's over that by a few more mm.

I no doubt could ingore it and do the France trip, but adding 1500 miles
on doesn't seem like the best idea, especially considering what happened
when Eddie's chain went for a Burton.

See my post to Bear, I'm partly just being cautious, but also going by
    what the kawasaki manual states..

I`m going to get an EK one - they`ve started doing them in green!

    Oh dear.

I don't want a green one as the ZRX isn't the normal kawasaki green but
a kind of metallic. You'll see what I mean at the EOSM.

Did you hang a 22lb/10kg weight from the bottom run and measure across
    the top run?

No, I measured the bottom run, with no weight on it. I'd imagine the
(correct) method you suggest would show worse stretching as there'd
actually be more tension on the chain.

I reckon there's a france run left in the chain anyhow, then the bike is
    due a service.

I won't touch EK chain, but you're welcome to if it's important that you
    have a green chain.

Ah. Well, I fitted an EK today.

Ginge: Busters are doing chain and sprockets for £Much.Cheapness. IIRC
my X-ring chain (EK) plus sprockets (JTK) was about 75 quid.

I had JTK sprockets last time. The front was a bit sharked but the rear
was fine. Saying that, the chain I was given was nothing more than I'd
expect from my "favourite"[1] motorcycle dealer.

That's good, I got a DID Xring for my Bandit, which I've still got to fit.

Sort of, but not quite. Last year something scientific was done to work
out the colour.... Science proved It's exactly the same colour as a 1
1/2 lime japanese slipper, mixed by Bear.
    Sorry but that sounds awful!

Not on bikes but there doesnt tend to that many of them about. I`ve
seen loads on cars and trucks fail but the most common is on caravans
where they sit for 11 months of the year and then get heavyweight use.
