Air con on max coldness, blowing down into footwells. Driver/passenger

Fast or slow, it was bliss driving around Cyprus.

(baldies need a liberal coating of the white stuff on the shiney bit up
    top mind)

  3. On The Doctor's Micra, aircon = open the windows.

And they're manual. I reckon using power windows would slow the thing
    down....

  4. I love Saabs as well, and would seriously consider one of the new

    Indeed, http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/225528/

Even the Mini isn't really profitable because of the lack of platform
    sharing available.

Thats a great deal, but just goes to show that like I said earlier
they depreciate at a scary rate. I bought mine new but I ordered it
direct from a Swedish dealership and travelled over to Gothenburg to
collect. The local dealer wanted 29k for the same specification car (I
guess I would have got *some* discount, but not a lot). I paid 19k all
in after including costs - flight / ferry, weekend in Gothenburg with
other half, vat , registration, fuel back from Newcastle etc. However,
that was back in 2002 when the £ was very strong against the kroner.
Not sure if doing this would be as worthwhile these days.

I plan on hanging onto it until it falls to bits so I think it'll work
out fairly cheap in the long run. Fair play, it has been a great car
so far. The only failure I've had is a fried direct igniton cartridge
(common fault so I am told).

The Jetta TDI170 DSG is a fantastic car, IMHO.

Mine made it to 19k before it's first service , and this post has just
reminded me to check the oil again now.

That's just it though isn't it. Vectras and Mondeos turn me right off
but the Mazda 6 doesn't. Weird.
SWMBO's Mazda 3 seems to be a very well built car
    Ooh, ta for that.

Ta for that, pretty much my take on the Coupe, although I didn't find
the ride too harsh on either of the examples I tested on Saturday. The
image thing doesn't really bother me, and anything would be a step up
from what I currently drive, and sunglasses would be a nice change from
    a paper bag.
Hmm, I'll have to take a deeper look into used Saab's

Tell you what, I'll compromise and investigate Volvo C70's instead.

Thats the reason I took the sting out of the first 3 years by
importing a UK spec car from Sweden. Not that I plan to ever sell it.
It will just get relegated to second car at some point in the not too
    distant future.

The 2.3 litre motor is bulletproof. Provided it is serviced properly
and the camchain changed @ (iirc) 100k miles. My old dad ran a couple
of 9000 cse 2.3t (230bhp HOT versions) as company cars before he
retired. The last one did 175k with no bother at all. And it was still
*bloody* quick and a really nice drive even then. Mines the cooking
185bhp LPT version so should last forever. I am sorely tempted to chip
    it though.

It remains to be seen if the rest of the car holds up but 5 years on
    and so far so good.
