I watched the first 30 minutes of "Not Only But Always" [0] last
night. Don't know what I think yet.

Crikey - didn't even know that existed.
    Bloody interesting review, there.

No worries - it'll be going through mine for the rest of the
afternoon, but that's not a problem. Anyone know of an mpeg site of
    the old P&D stuff?

I thought Rhys Ifans had Peter Cook down to a tee. I enjoyed it in a
'car crash' TV sort of way, because I knew it wasn't going to have a
happy ending but wanted to see what had happened in their lives to end
up the way they did. I wasn't a PC or DM fan as such when I was
younger, so missed a lot of the background and never listened to the
comedy until much later in life.

  6. Altberg seem to make robust boots, but their styling appears to
polarise opinion. Daytona have an excellent reputation around this
parish, but they don't appear to have put their products through the EN
13634 tests to validate their website claims of safety and protection.
I suspect at least a proportion of their range would quite easily meet
the standard, or would do so with minimal changes.

My choice of best boot maker? I have no strong views. Whatever is
comfortable and provides my toes and feet with the best chance of
remaining functionally attached to the rest of my anatomy if things
turn out for the worst. Probably something resulting from an evil union
between the best from the respective gene pools of AlpineStars,
    Daytona, Sidi, Oxtar and others.

If you're prepared to go a bit cheaper, I bought some Alpinestars
GPS-3 a couple of months ago for about £130. I'm very impressed with
    them.

I bought my armour and goretex Alpinestars cheap in the sales three or
four years ago. They haven't done as many hours out in all weathers as
I would have liked but give it another year or two and they might.

Harry Thompson's biography of Peter Cook is extremely readable,
extremely funny and extremely sad. It also illustrates that he was a
    pure genius.

I may go book shopping this weekend. That and Alan Clarke's Diaries
    will be on my list.

    Thanks.
