  1. I'm needing new boots and they've got to be waterproof. Suggestions/
    recommendations please. Budget is 150-200.

OXTARS, I got a pair from JandS for 120 and I have ridden in all
weathers with them with no complaints.

    : SIDI Black Rain.

AlpineStar do several gore-tex boots for less than that. I finally
need to replace my 6-y-o ones - they're starting to look a bit tatty
and have got a split in the fore-foot, but are still completely
waterproof after all this time and about 40000 miles.

I shan't be looking at other brands this time, which is about as much
of a recommendation as I could give.

Look, I don't care what he says - they've survived years of abuse,
including a couple of minor offs, and still do exactly what they say
    on the tin.

IIRC he has some issues with their clothing, but I don't think it
    extends to boots. BICBW.

And they're surprisingly cheap, too, starting at about £115 in the UK,
    AFAICT

    You rich b'stard.

I picked up 2 pairs of armoured Prexsport ones for 39.99 each at the
BMF. Unfortunately just around the corner, I spotted the SIDI ones at
    just shy of 70 :-(

    Ho Hum.

    Vans.

I've never crashed a bike in them, but when I got run over my feet still
    looked cool.

The lining in my Prex MX boots developed an unhealthy attraction to my
foot, then the sole snapped clean in two shortly after. They're quite
high on my list of 'shite I won't buy again'.

    O Just Great :)

Mind you, Considering the flak that Franki Thomas gets on here, my
boots lasted 4 yrs plus. I was considering binning them as a health
hazard, rather than because they were particularly shagged ..

Well, I don't care either. I have a pair of them and they rock. Well,
they did rock till the fireman cut them up.

I've got a pair of FT Artic Voyager goretex boots - 6 years old & still
good as new. My old FT leather jacket's a different story...

But if you weren't wearing Alpinestars you wouldn't have crashed in the
    first place.

: Daytona Gore-Tex ones can be had for that sort of money. Very nice,
: quite comfy, but I haven't done enough miles in them yet to recommend
: them without hesitation, whereas I've done bags of miles in the Daytona
: Clubman Race (non waterproof) ones.

Daytonas are on my list ... they seem to have pretty good reputation.
Voyager GTX and Non-stop GTX are about 180 quid.
I've got 7yo Alpinestars (GPS?) but they're not waterproof and offer
bugger all protection but I could walk miles in them.

I got some Oxtar goretex lined boots from J&S a couple of months ago and
they are really comfy and totally waterproof and as a bonus I only paid 99
quid for them instead of the 129 they were marked up at.

Heh! My Frank Thomas ones have done roughly that. Not that I'd recommend
them though, as they look like wellies.

Daytonas. Good enough for the serious riders amongst us. I've had my
Roadstar GTXs for 3 years and done serious mileages in them, mostly in
pouring rain. They've been warm, dry and comfy every time I've used
    them.
