I had almost worked up enough frenzy to ride over to Aikins to look at
the Brevia and see how much they'd offer for the Hornet, when I found
    http://www.triumphstreettriple.com/

    Due in Oz in December.

Now, all I have to do is get Triumph to revive the Nuclear Red paint
job, and check if you get two proper keys. :)

I don't know about the mappings stuff, but the early 90's NSR250
definitely had an electronic key which was a plastic card

Thanks John....I wasn't making it up.

Some of the "trickier" mappings weren't actually kosher Honda.

I think it let's you know what their attitude to their customers is. I see
the board-room with the marketing director saying "Let's only give them one
key, We can reduce the price of the bike by $1, save ourselves $2, and , if
someone get's indignant, we can tell them we cab easily supply an extra key
for Sir for only $150.00. So by the time the customer has the two keys he
    expected, we're $149 better off.

Same for me, but do you feel secure knowing that you're holding onto the
only key. That you can't phone home and get the spare sent out. That it's a
major hassle if you drop it in the lift.

I suffer from elevatorkeyphobia, comes from having dropped car keys down
that little gap between the building floor and the lift floor,....... twice.

What an awful colour, belongs on a Kawasaki.

Just go and get the damn Guzzi. Get it over with. You, Zebee, and I, know
    you want to.
I only saw a picture of the Norge before I bought it. Brochures arrived with
the bike. "I did but catch a fleeting glance of her passing by". (Menzies?)

'50s Brit bikes didn't have ignition switches. Just a push-button kill
switch on the bars that grounded the Magneto circuit. Zero security.

My 1967 230S is the last of the "Finnies", the last of the 4 bearing
crankshaft motors, and the last 110 chassis. My previous Merc was also a
110, a 1964 220SE with a four speed manual, on the tree even. Some fuckwit
in a bus ran over over it. No, not one of yours.

Local locksmith I asked this morning while he was repairing a break in
told my $50.00 as he had some blanks for mine . At 150$ it sounds bloody
    expensive.

He's only asking $50 because he knows BMW are asking $150. How much do you
think a piece of nickel-plated brass weighing a few grams costs? Now add in
3 minutes labour. Bunnings will cut you a key from a standard blank for $4.
And they're making 100% on that transaction.

    Theo
More cynical than you if you think $50 for a bloody key is good value.

See how far getting someone from Bunnings to cut the Norge key will
    get you....

Zebee, you know as well as I do that, when we vote you in as President of
Oztraylia and everyone has to ride a Guzzi, keys for Norges will be cheap as
chips and Bunnings _will_ be able to cut them. I don't believe vehicle keys
are rocket science or should cost $150.

On the other hand, rocket science mostly consists of "light blue touch paper
and stand well back". So even rocket science isn't rocket science.

Worth more than 35K ? I wouldn't have thought so ? I think Jodie would
pay us money to take him away at times :)

A very well thought out analysis of the situation. In the end my dealer did
come good with another key to preserve our good relationship. However I
agree that the manufacturer should supply 2 keys.

The BMW key is coded for the bike, it is my understanding that only Rocket
Scientists or 12 year olds who hot wire X-Boxes can duplicate them.

The $50.00 is calling to your location and cutting one on site . still
not cheap but good to know if you are stuck ?

I used a Hondahhahaha switch on my K and keys for it are $5.00

It's called always putting your key in the same pocket when you get off
the bike and always putting it in the same place when you get inside
your house. Not quite OCD, really. :p

Bunnings policy (or at least the policy as it was explained to me when I
fronted up at their key cutting counter with a Honda blank) was that
they will not cut customer keys, they will only cut blanks which they
stock. The theory here of course being that if they **** up their own
blank they can grab another one off the shelf, and do it again, whereas
if they **** up my blank they owe me $70 to replace the blank I bought
from Honda. They wouldn't even do it when I said I was prepared to wear
the risk of their potential incompetence.
