I bought an identical one from Beds County Council for a tenner, brand
new and unregistered it was too[1]. The council had bought a few of them
to do training in schools, and then run out of cash to pay the
instructors, so the bikes sat in a garage for 10 years doing nowt until
a bloke one of my mates knew discovered them. Me and a few mates bought
one each and registered them all as new bikes on the same day with
    consecutive numbers.

We then held a series of impromptu 'one-make challenge' moped races
around Bedford town centre at night. Apparently, the sight of 8 or 9
PF50s with fully leathered/expensive helmeted riders carreering round
the pothole ridden streets of Bedford is a sight to behold , I wouldn't
know cos I was one of the pilots. After about a month of this silliness,
which involved a few words from the local old bill, for riding on the
pavement, jumping red lights and using the alleyways and pedestrian
areas as short-cuts[2], we got bored and they started getting sold off
for between 50 and 150 quid.

My girlfriend of the time asked me to sell mine, because she was so
embarrassed when riding it into town for me to go racing on it. Being a
single seater she couldn't go pillion.

    We called the PFs 'Pissflaps'

[1] I had a GSX750EFE as my normal road bike at the time, and a KE175D2
[2] No-one ever actually got nicked for anything, and we were never
    warned for speeding.

You don't(didn't) on mopeds. I know the Bantam isn't a moped.

Whether you do or don't isn't clear from the VOSA website, a there's
no mention of "daytime" MOT on there.

FMOB. Doesn't look like it has brakes of any sort. What do you do,
    back-pedal?

I've just purchased a new back tyre for the Z200. The only tyre available
in 3.25-17 is the Avon Safety Mileage Mk.II...

A regexp to match any word with four or five characters. Saves hassle.

    D'oh, thanks.

And further thanks for giving me the opportunity to rediscover the
difference in regular expression handling between the GNU and Solaris
flavors of egrep, vs bash, etc. :(
