NEW BIKER

    Not a bad bike if touring's your thing, but not much good for chucking
    around twisty country roads. A big, heavy bike though, with a lot of
    expensive plastics to break if you drop it (and, chances are, you will).
    It's your money, but I reckon you'd be better off honing your skills on
    something cheap 'n' cheerful, before splashing out on the one you really
    want.

    I was wondering, as I read through the posts whther anyone was going to
    suggest the SV. The position on those is good: the unfaired one is
    quite upright, and they do go a lot better than some people think.

    They're not just good as a first bike, either...

    I imagine very little comparison with a CB500.

    Insurance is group 9, I think: one less than a Bandit!
