    (The Older Gentleman) spouted the
    following in

Prolly not if you'd been on a 125, more chance of regaining control of a
front wheel skid on a lower lighter shorter chassis.

In the context of the OP wanting a bike to go on holiday on, presumably
with luggage, The Bandit 600 is the more salient comparison, and you are
right in that if you'd have hit the front brake on a bandit 6 like you
did on the FJR, you'd just have surely lost it. Lesson was learned at
around 35mph, no great harm done, but the FJR was considerably more
expensive to fix than a shitty old bandito 6. Considering the whinge the
OP is having about the cost of a replacement exhaust, maybe he'd better
take the original fairings off the bike *before* he drops the luggaged
up behomoth on a garage forecourt and spoils his jollies.

    Who has made such predictions?

More to do with the power of the brakes. I doubt the restricted version
has crapper brakes than the full power one?
    Hellooooo UKrm ;-)

By the time you realized the front end had gone, the bike was already
past the point of no return. I had the same experience in Ireland on
diesel. There was no way to correct it.

(sh)it happens from time to time. The more experienced and 'in tune'
with your bike you are, the more warning of impending doom you get.
Sometimes this makes the difference between staying on or coming off.
You got off lightly really, It could have been *much* worse from the
legal angle if you'd so much as tapped one of the peds.
No, I'm saying they go down less recoverably and more expensively.,,

Dunno: That's the way it goes I suppose, depends on the surface under
the front tyre at the time I'd guess.
You need to use your back brake more in town. Locking the front wheel is
    not recommended.

Well, caution is a natural reaction to have to falling off, just get it
in proportion to the conditions. Ride with more experienced people, and
learn from their speed and braking points.

Ow gwan. I am pissed off being the senile old **** all the time.
People are starting to believe it is true and everything. It is doing
my sex life no good at all you know.

Mind you, by a similar token it could be said to be doing it no real
harm either so I suppose my pot is half full at least.

It doesn't work like that Des. The piss has already been taken of me by

In the bit of the post you snipped.

See that bit there? It is the self denigrating dig at me that is and if
there is a feed line in there anywhere at all this is it.

Perhaps it was all a bit deep for you eh?
