I have been away from biking for 20 years. I have to confess to being 40
something (almost 50 something) and have purchased a 1996 GSXF 1100, with
the hope of using it for holidays next year.

I have just had a shock at the cost of parts, they make german & swedish car
bits look cheap! I need an exhaust front pipe and have been quoted 450Quid!
    Is this reasonable?

Any advice on keeping the cost down will be gratfully recieved.

    Regards Robert

    Yes it's reasonable.

A way of keeping the cost down would be not repairing it; you'll crash
    soon enough after all.

If you've been away for bikes for 20 years what possesed you to go out
and buy something that large, heavy and fast? Perhaps you have a small
    penis?

For £450(and probably a lot less), I should think that you could get a
complete stainless steel exhaust made up for you.For that bike you may
even get one 'off the shelf'.
Do a web search and you'll find a load of links for stainless exhausts.

Of course you may say so.

You'd be wrong of course but you are welcome to say it.
What's this? your old Bandit 600? So you had something smaller first.
    Right...

What point are you trying to make Des, or is it just the habitual
    disagreeing with stuff?

What about the weight and physical size?

Christ I've been riding bikes for a while and still find that large
heavy bikes can catch me out when I'm going slowly, getting on and off
    them etc.

And re the power, "not necessarily" ending in a crash, ok I can buy
that. More likely to end in a crash though or will you habitual[ly] [1]
    disagree with that as well?

    [1] My, you're smart.

  11. I love the "everyone said it was too powerful and I'd crash it and I did
crash it but that had nothing to do with its power" drivel.

Sheer class. How to make yourself look even more of a twonk.

  12. <snip>

When you're a newbie, even 12bhp is too much.

Jumping onto a 50bhp machine after 12bhp also feels too much - remember
how every new bigger bike felt awesome?

Jumping onto a 100bhp bike feels too much.

And if you crash it, is obviously was......

(Can you imagine what he'd have done with a full-power Thirteen?)

  13. He doesn't have a bike *at all*. The Thirteen got repo'd after he'd
crashed it. The R1 was a figment of his imagination. It makes you wonder
why he posts to a bike ng at all.

  18. Ding. In fact, only a complete arse would suggest that there's no
difference between handling a light bike and a heavy bike.

Where from? Sounds about right for genuine Suzuki dealer price as they're
'pretty rare these days. Tried a breakers?

Alternatively, wot about someone like Motad or Micron?
Check out some of the Suzuki Bulletin Boards/Web Sites.
