That's what it's about, getting out there and actually doing / building
    things.

  2. If I had the resources I would make very similar beasties.

Am I the only one getting a stiffy from looking at that exhaust? It's like
    the racing pornstar of scooters.

    Yep!
I made a cone roller out of steel tube then rolled the cones to match the
equations for tuned exhausts and the angle of both the cones to give me the
    rev-range and flow I needed.
The steel is 0.8mm sheet cut from an old steel locker.

Simon....If you look closely you`ll find there`s no front brake or brake
light/speedo and the fact it holds only 1.5litres of fuel and runs a total
loss electric system powered by a small 2.8A battery with no chargeing
system "might" make it a bit impractical for cruising to the coast on ;-)

Actually I`ve got the front disc and caliper and the magneto coils are still
in place for chargeing...............er no, I don`t think so :))

I spose a daytime only MOT isn`t out of the question but it would be totally
pointless with a tank range of 5miles approx.

You don`t need to be road legal to run at a RWYB.
The only requirements are a full license/appropriate clothing and lid and
something that "looks" like it would run for just over 1/4 mile:)
In fact the opposite is often true, junking the unneccesary things like
lights/most of the electrics/one of the brakes makes for a lighter bike.
Last year we ran the Red dwarf at five meets, the only comments we got were
good ones (including me overhearing one of the starters saying "has that
little red beauty made it to the top yet?" when Dave had the honour of
giving it it`s very first run and it popped and banged all the way to the
    finish :))

This Sunday is in fact a RWYB and the only chance to test both of the bikes
before April 3rd when we`re entering them both in the scooter "X-races",
this round is at Shakespeare Raceway ( er Long Marston as I still know it)
http://www.x-race-uk.info/home.php .Most of the rounds coinside with RWYB`s
as scooter drag racing is still quite new in the UK.

I`ll post results of the testing on Sunday night "IF" the`re not too
    embarassing;-)

That`s bollox anyway The record has been 12.7 seconds @ 102 mph for years
now on a Lamby (geared)and has just been unofficially broken by a time of
12.3 seconds by Joe Elliot on PSN`s sprinter (auto).

Is that all? Can't be right. A new series 4 would do 70+ out of the
box, once, as would as would a 200 of the other manufacturer. Or are we
talking about chain saw sized engines here?

    Seems awfully slow.

21st Oct 2004 - Well, that's it! Until next year! The 2004 season ended with
some -amazing- times being achieved at Elvington on 10th Oct, a NEW BRITISH
RECORD has been set (unofficially though I might add) with Joe Elliott
    running a 12.30 @ 98mph on PM Tuning's 'Pro-Sprint' 172cc sprinter. This is
an incredible time for an automatic scooter and beats the previous record
set by Keith Terry in 1993 of 12.70 (one-way time) for the quarter mile. A
big thanks to everyone who has particpated or supported X-Race during the
2004 season. The next event on the calendar is the X-Race Awards Bash which
is being held at the Renaissance Hotel, South Normanton, Derbyshire on 22nd
    January, 2005.

Pasted from the news page of www.x-races-uk.com

Keith was riding a 200cc Lamby stripped for sprinting.
Joe (who I know personally) is 5ft4in tall and weighs in at around 9stone.PM
(owned and run by Paul Melici) have spent over three grand on their sprinter
and it runs at about 13.3sec with a normal sized bloke on it.
I`ve spent about three hundred quid on mine and with a £180 quid 172cc
Malossi kit and a dwarf riding it will run in the 13sec bracket.Difference
is I`m doing it for fun, not to promote a scooter tuning business.
