New bike time and valuation request

The time has come. Narrowed it down to a K1200S, a Hayabusa or a
Blackbird - circa £5k, maybe a little wriggle room - probably leaning
more towards the Blackbird though. Quite keen to get one with hard
luggage, ebay item 260425796394 looks interesting.

Have no idea if the price is reasonable, it's a dealer sale.

TOG: any idea of ballpark for my 2001/51 Sprint ST 955? It's green, 16k
miles, ful Triumph service history, unmolested and in good all round
condition.

 

Have you considered Cane's?

 

I fear it would bore me.

 

Isn't that what Blackbirds are for?

The K1200S is so much better than the blackbird in every way, you won't get
a decent 'busa for love nor money.

The K is quite ridiculous, it's big, ugly & heavy, but once you open the
tap, fucking nora!

Not many bikes can outrun it in any way, mine wont be sold for a long long
time

That's bollocks. There's plenty out there.

 

Blackbirds are inherently a little dull, unfortunately. As Dodger put
it, only Honda could make a 180mph bike feel boring.

I rode Nige's 1200S and was pretty impressed - easily the best BMW
I've ever ridden. Can you really get one for 5k, tho - I didn't think
they'd been out long.

As you may have noted, I bought a 10 year old 'busa for 3.1k a couple
of months ago, so 5k should get you something much younger. I'm very
very pleased with it.

 

I'm sure it'll provide me with excitement-a-plenty, bearing in mind my
previous bike experience - it's subjective after all.

I love the look of the 1200S but see that I am not going to find what I
want for the price I am prepared to pay this time round.

I know you are. Trouble now is I've got the bit between my teeth and
impatience is kicking-in so possibly a hasty purchase will be made.

 

There's not many around to be fair, most owners keep hold of 'em.
