Due to illness I am insulating the new Greater shed.
I should be able to fit the 400/4, trumpet and the XT inside it.
I shall be fitting a small green house heater to keep it just above
freezing and I may add a small light and a place for the big electrick
    to get in :)
This should avoid any pesky condensation problems when the hole in Wales
    dips to -18 again.......

Why would he put that in the shed before any of the other bikes?

I'm afraid I think I'm going to be selling it I'm afraid.
I don't need to big enduro type singles.
The exhaust has blown on the seam and it's leaking oil from the clutch
    cover seal.
I keep doing the maths in my head.
Should I use up a weekend or two fixing the leak and the exhaust and MOT
it or should I just sell it as is....
I think it might be worth more broken up but it's
    a nice example.

Break it. I'm sure Sweller will have a need for most of it over the
    next 12 months.

That's no great surprise as you couldn't use it for what to you
    originally bought it for.

I bought it to do the Normandy battlefield tour a couple of years back
with the MT group, which it did admirably.

I'd have been able to love it more if it had electric start, but I
couldn't be faffed converting it (it'd really need a replacement
    engine to do it)
Nicer to sell it as a complete bike, as they're a bitch to get
registered and there's only a limited number around. No more will ever
    be made ...
Yeah, nicer than Simon's bag of bolts ;)

Well, that's not quite how it happened :)
I was looking for a cheap big traily; which is exactly what it was.
Unfortunately I fell to excessive drinking and talking with Mr Bonwick
simultaneously, immediately after having a ride on it.
That is exactly the problem with them.
I've got it now that it's starting from cold quite nicely, 90% of the
    time.
But when it doesn't want to start [1] it does test your patience.
Yes. I can't deny I have a certain sympathy for this sort of thing
(looks at 1973 ex-mil landy) and it would be a shame.

On the other hand I have a natural aversion to losing money. I'm not
bothered about making anything but it would be nice to get back what I
    spent.

It may mean salting it away on dry storage for a few years ....
    Heh.
That cold trip wouldn't have been the same without it :D

Sounds like my bike-house: 8 x 6 shed, solid floor, no windows, double
doors at one end, single at the other, lighting, power and heat. Very
    snug.

You heartless bugger. Just 'cos you see your bikes as a piece of
machinery doesn't mean the rest of us don't imbue personalities into
    ours ;-)

I'm with Andy on this one. They're just collections of metal, plastic
and rubber to me and if they're worth more in bits than whole then they
get broken and flogged that way.

It looks like the Versys will end up in bits being sold on ebay in a
year or so because it'll be worth far more broken.

  14. It sounds a bit too small for a proper bike shed.

    Paging the Sheddi.

    That's not how it works.
The old one is a 'bit too small' whilst this is 'just right'.
It's got nothing to do with physical size.
It's the passage of time and the users
ability to acquire things that make sheds shrink.
Right now the shed is fine as I haven't put anything in it.
The minute I start putting things inside it will begin to shrink.
Maybe stuff has a larger gravitational pull when inside a shed and it
    pulls the walls closer together......

  16. That's exatly what I was thinking.

Now my shed will house a SWB Lard Roller, a 250RS, a R80, still leaving
    room for the lathe I want, a wall full of tools, a bench, 8' X 4', a
mini brewery, a woodjbex lathe and Arthur Nacre of shelves.

And even the ceiling is untidy...

Oh, and in the crook of the 'L'shaped shed, there's a sort-of greenhse.

Bugger. Just spotted the cross post....
Well if we're allowed to mention really big sheds....
I do have another shed where my Smiths 21" circular saw,
22" Thomas Robinson thicknesser planer (1922 vintage),
the Armstrong, the spindle moulder, the other 400/4
and all the 400/4 bits live.
3 phase supply as well ;)

  19. A fine hypothesis, and I rather goove you have molished an impotent
    discovery.
However much you condense a shed, you can't swallow it.

    Well, not in one go.

I'm afeared that most of my hand tools have now migrated inside the
    house ... :-o

It's got to the point where getting my toolbox nicked out of the
garage would cost me more than getting the bike nicked.
