    Heya!

Lurking in the background here. I just wanted to let ya'll know that I
have been working with a coating for aluminum. I have put it on some of my
manufacturing machines at work, and it seems to do pretty well. Its called
"Tufram" and is a proprietary coating done by General Magnaplate in Grand
    Prairie.

The coating increases the surface hardness of the aluminum to about HRC 65.
This is about the same as tool steel. However, since the coating is only
..0002 in. thick, the aluminum retains it's toughness.

I have been thinking that this would be a good coating for the rear
sprocket and maybe the pegs. I don't know how much it costs to apply it,
but it is THE toughest coating I have seen for aluminum. There is a
website for it, but I don't have it right now.

I think this is the same thing you were posting about. I happened to
have the link in an older email:

Are you sure you didn't already use that stuff to coat your helmet?
Maybe you should consider it for your helmet..... might make it just
    a tad.....more....BLING!

I don't know about the aluminum coating stuff, but the scrolly thing
on the left of the page is neat. Good for hours of entertainment!

That stuff is STILL in his saddlebag, I do believe. So, I haven't had
a chance to really try it out, yet. The bike could use a bit of a
    polishing, though....
