Heya! Lurking in the background here. I just wanted to let ya'll know that I have been working with a coating for aluminum. I have put it on some of my manufacturing machines at work, and it seems to do pretty well. Its called "Tufram" and is a proprietary coating done by General Magnaplate in Grand Prairie. The coating increases the surface hardness of the aluminum to about HRC 65. This is about the same as tool steel. However, since the coating is only ..0002 in. thick, the aluminum retains it's toughness. I have been thinking that this would be a good coating for the rear sprocket and maybe the pegs. I don't know how much it costs to apply it, but it is THE toughest coating I have seen for aluminum. There is a website for it, but I don't have it right now. Bling!
