You get a little money from somewhere and what happens eh? Your CG125
forks erupt in rust under the chrome and destroy your seals and you have
to buy new fork tubes / seals.

Bloody stupid forks on there look as though the chome is wafer thick and
not very well stuck at that.

    Muck says...
Get them ground and industrial hard chromed. Probably work out cheaper
than new stanchions and you know they'll last longer than a new set.

I've gone for some after market tubes, with a seal kit still come out
£30 cheaper than a regrind will cost me. Still a bit of a pita though, I
thought I'd had enough of rebuilding forks with the FZR. :)

I got a fixed price chrome and regrind / polish for the FZR and was well
chuffed with the results of that.
I'd imagine it is a bit of a pita. Still, if you're set up for doing
only that, you'd be able to keep the price down a bit.

Sounds like a better option that.
Yep, they listen and then, not always politely go back to doing it some
old way, just because they've always done it like that. Happened to me
at two companies I worked for.

Damn fine finish and quite reasonable

I've got a couple of new tubes now, it was cheaper doing that on this
    bike.

Heh... Yeh, shit happening. It does that from time to time. Just a bit
pissed off that I can't get my 'sticky' tyres for the CG at the moment
    though.

  12. Fucking dinosaurs. I've come across this on occasion - there's a bloody
good modern way of doing something and some **** just won't take it in
    because he doesn't understand it.

While you've got them off the bike, and they're still shiny and new, fit a
    set of gaiters.

The other thing about gaiters is that an MOT tester can't look at what's
underneath them. If you have scabby but still serviceable stanchions, it's
a good way to smarten them up for the test.

I may put some on my Bandit too, one day. It'll protect from stones and
dents in the chrome a bit.

Do bits of bin liner held on with cable ties count as gaiters?
