there have been a few posts over the last few weeks about cheap
    laptops/netbooks

it seems the days of the £200 netbook have gone and we now have the £143
    netbook.

Tesco are flogging off red or blue Acer Aspire Ones with Atom N270
processors, 1Gb of RAM and 160Gb HDD. Only downside is Win7 Crippled
Version rather than XP like the one I bought last year.

    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-9971.aspx for red

    Super little devices.

I'm strongly tempted to buy a few and get some dago keyboards. They're a
piece of piss to swap out, as I've had mine in bits twice to add memory and
a hard disc. Only they're paying twice that down here. Could make myself a
    few shillings.

£25 from ebay for a 5200w/hr 6 cell replacement that gives at least
double the battery life. Don't bother with the 9 cell ones though,
    they're bulky.

  6. I would be careful buying high capactity non-OEM batteries. Lithium
batteries are potentially dangerous when they go off and some of the
production processes I've seen/heard about leave a lot to be desired.

Also... I think you want to check your units, I don't think that a
5200Wh battery would be feasible in a portable device. 5200mAh
    possibly...

I have seen what happens when this shit goes wrong - a laptop spitting
flames out of it's screen - funny, but dangerous.

Well, the one I got uses Sanyo cells and circuitry, so given they're
the largest manufacturer of rechargeable cells I'm not too worried.

Fair comment. Anyway, it works fine, runs cool, and unexpectedly makes
you and Darsy look like the safety nazis. Top bit of kit.

Did you score one of those Cameron Sino batteries for your phone?

  13. No, gave up on the Desire and moved onto other phones. Umm... Motorola
Defy (nice ergonomics), Huawei Ideos (very nice for the price), Nexus S
(still making my mind up). Also a few others but not used for any
    significant period.
