    Oh well, shit happens.

    http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=bike-pusher&ssPageName=STRK:ME:UFS

Slightly irritating in that he claimed the bike wasn't charging, and
not only was it charging, but it was demonstrated to him at the time of
sale. Battery was flat, so I started it on the kick, and after a few
minutes of running the battery had gained enough charge to spin the
starter. So it must have fritzed afterwards.

Crankcase damage - wonder what that was, then, because I never saw
nuffin, guv'nor. Tim, Weggy? Any thoughts?

Third, actually, but the first in over a year.

The other two were both retaliatories from NBP'd buyers, one of whom
was subsequently NARU'd. So the first real one. Ish. He could've
contacted me first instead of just slamming in a neg, but DILLIGAF?

    TOG@Toil, ,
Yeah, you should have waited for his feedback first.

  8. Heh. No, I don't do that. Somebody pays promptly, I leave feedback. I
buy the goods and I'm happy, I leave FB immediately. What the other
party does is up to them.

I'm not one of these "I'll only leave FB if you do" bods, because that's
    a wanker's attitude IMHO.

    In message
I've often thought that eBay would work better if feedback was only
displayed once both parties had submitted theirs. It would get rid of
the "I'm not going to neg because they might neg me back" problem.

Anyway, regarding your neg, I'd be most disappointed that they didn't
contact you before leaving it. Were they fairly new to eBay?

If I've got problems with something I've bought, I'll at least contact
the seller and allow them to resolve (cancel the sale, repair, replace
or reduce the price) before leaving feedback. I'd only go straight to
neg if I got no response or a negative response or felt that the seller
was deliberately out to defraud. I'd certainly prefer to leave positive
feedback where a vendor resolves a problem quickly and efficiently than
go straight to negative and not give them the opportunity.

I'm sure if there is something you could do to help him understand the
charging etc., you sure as hell aren't going to do it now!

  10. yeah. I tend to wait 'til I've dispatched the goods, if it's something I'm
sending, and they've been received. then if the buyer hasn't left feedback
I leave mine. once or twice I've had to remind people...
agreed. I leave it anyway - if the other party doesn't then they end up
    looking like a wanker.

    Bad idea.
I could send out an empty box knowing that the buyer couldn't neg me back.
Even if the buyers feedback showed up automatically if I didn't leave
feedback within say 30 days , I could still rip a load of people off before
    the negs showed

Damn right I do , though I choose not to use it in that fashion.

I know that if I wanted to I could very easily rip people off on ebay and
make several/tens of thousands of pounds with as near to zero as possible
chance of being caught. My method would pretty much have to be a one off but
I'm sure it would work very nicely , and no I'm not going to go into detail
    here.

I could easily make fake but but convincing listings for an account with
apparently good trading history and relieve lots of people of lots of money.

Most of the time scammers get caught or spotted because they try too hard ,
list stuff too cheaply or list too many items all at once. Avoid some of
these obvious signs and you'll get much more trust from your victims

True , but you can still leave feedback on their behaviour as a whole during
    the sale.

If someone pays quickly then turns out to be a twat after they get the item
then they are still deserving of a neg

  19. You can bet that fleabay won't adopt it. waste of time suggesting handy
    things to 'em.

I wrote to 'em a while back saying that it'd be nice if you could display
only negative feedback comments - if you;re considering whether to trade
with someone, the next most important thing after the feedback score is what
the negs were for. In your case, for example, you've got retaliatory ones
which wouldn't put me off - but if you're looking at someone with a score in
the thousands, it can be a right pain finding the negatives to look at.

    got no sense, though.

I think the way the feedback system now could be adapted to work for
example if unfair negative feedback was removed after being looked
at by an independent arbitrator. some bidders get angry with
themselves by not reading descriptions properly and end up leaving
negative feedback like smaller than I thought when the size has been
clearly advertised in description. Also tit for tat neg feedback .
trouble is this will mean someone else getting involved which would
mean Ebay fees increasing again to cover the loss in profit .
