Need help from automotive spotters

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by KillaHedgeHog, Dec 11, 2003.

  1. Be glad you didn't. Continually drifting out of tune and running like a
bag of spanners, plus chucking money out of the exhaust pipe.

It would have been ok (indeed, wonderful) as a Sunday cruiser, but not
something you'd want to use every day.

<g> I ended up with one with the Ruddspeed conversion - triple SUs
(can't remember what size). Loved it.

Afair, they had 1.75" but were often fitted with 2" SUs (plenty of Jags
in the breakers) for an extra 30bhp or so.

Oooh, Healy 3000 up and down the Stelvio Pass; fantastic noise.

So, give me the extra £140 you made, then.

You lucky lucky bastard. I was all set to go and get my first (and
last) sight of the Healeys on the 67 RAC when it got cancelled 'cos of
foot and mouth. So despite owning two of the buggers I never got to
    see one driven in anger.

Stelvio Pass: A road to be enjoyed. Especially when the Carabinieri
have closed it, "officially", due to a land slide, and you *know*
there are no cars on it.

You can have *so* much fun,the coolant tank can boil, all over your
pillion's leg. Which was nice. Well, it cheered me up.

    GPz750R, Autumn 1987, iirc.

Heh, my experience of 'em was much later than that; circa 1989 on the
    Pirelli Classic Marathon.

Lots of good in-car stuff, too.

Looks tempting. I wonder if by John Cheathem they mean John Chatham,
famous Healey owner and (IIRC) Chief Constable.
